In this video I give you a tour of my new thai villa after moving out of my condo to give you an idea of what roughly $2100 per month rent in Thailand will get you, this Villa is located half way between Jomtien Beach and Pattaya about 5 minutes away from the beach and surrounded by restaurants and convenience, you could probably get something like this for cheaper if you was willing to compromise on location.
This is just a quick vlog and due to moving I've been a bit slow on creating content recently but I'm back to working now
What do you think about my new thailand villa? do you think the cost of living looks good here? what would $2100 per month get you where you live? let me know in the comments below!

--Thai Villa Description--
This Thai Villa is a cross between Thai and Bali style, it's a detached house with a pool, jacuzzi, 5 toilets, 3 showers, 2 bedrooms, one large office space, large kitchen, dining room as well as a large outdoor space with plants, for $2100 per month I got all of this fully furnished with gardening and pool maintenance included.
Different parts of Thailand will offer you varying prices and properties for example a condo or villa like this in Bangkok would cost you more than double the price (if you can even find something like this in Bangkok)
One of the biggest benefits of moving overseas from the west is the cost of living and lower taxes, if you're young, not tied down and have the means of working remotely I highly recommend looking into it, life is one big MMORPG, there's no need to stick around in the starter zone if you're unhappy, the world is a big place so it makes sense to go where you're treated best.

My question, Peon, is 'Are you happy?' I always wondered how a humble soul would feel about relocating across the world to a beautiful new place. Does happiness follow? Or is it more of the same...
@TheLazyPeon
@TheLazyPeon 3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the person, for some people making this move wouldn't make them happier, leaving friends and family behind isn't worth it for most, for me I'm not super close to my family and due to moving around so much in the past I never had that stable long term friend group so the choice was easier, overall I'm happier here than I would have been in Europe, more freedom, tax savings, sunlight all year round, friendly people and good food with lots of places to visit, as with anywhere the novelty wears off overtime and it just becomes your normal life but baseline happiness is much higher for sure. Now that I'm making good money and "living the dream" as many would say It's clearer now more than ever that happiness comes from within, if I didn't have goals, if I didn't workout or keep pushing myself whilst also being grateful for the simple things in life such as good health then I'd be miserable, doesn't matter where you live in the world happiness comes from mindset, a sense of purpose, gratitude and the people you surround yourself with once your baseline needs are met.

I personally don't think I could move just to have a better standard of living, at least not across the world. Growing up in America, yes the big major cities, like with other major cities in other countries, are very expensive to live in. However, living in a suburb on the outskirts of a major city (in my case, Chicago), is very affordable. The thing that puts me off to just packing up and going over to Asia is the culture difference. I would love to visit those countries, but I feel like I would feel very isolated, even more than now in such a country. I wouldn't mind moving to say Europe or Canada, but anything else seems beyond me. Glad you are happy, stay safe!

This is very true, I live in a suburb in the upstate of South Carolina and $2k a month could easily get you a 3500sq house. Assuming you don't need that much space, you could forgo that extra sq ft and get a nice house with all the bells and whistles.

I’m a realtor in Canada, with our town having a huge influx of new workers due to the power plant getting upgraded - a 3 bedroom 1400 sq ft building would net around 1900-2500 depending on finishes and parking. Even saw as high as 3100 for a 3 bedroom house. No pool and certainly no maintenance. It’s wild how much you could get for that price in Thailand! You are very fortunate!

You should convert the maid room into a gym. My garage is a gym and it’s the best investment I did for myself. But you definitely want your gym to be separated from other places in your place solely to have that mental setting. You don’t need to keep that space as a storage room. It’s perfect for a gym.
@Lobos222
@Lobos222 3 жыл бұрын
You should consider renting out the maid room to tourists if the contract allows it or dosent mention such. You could probably cut your rent to nothing during the tourist season. People live there for 7 or 14 days on average etc.

@@elosyyy Idk what they are called in Thai but we have identical ones in Cambodia since Thai and Khmer shared a lot of similarities culturally and historically. The sculpture is called "Apsara" in Khmer which means female dancers in Hindu and Buddhist culture and only perform at the highest national ceremonial or for the Monarch. And why am i laughing? Because the sculpture clearly indicates that they are woman due to the upper part of the body but Peon just went "Buddha". LULW Edit: Female Dancers Sculpture or Female Dancers are also called "Apsara" in Thai.

Ps: one can get something similar in f.ex Spain but of course with a different finish and much less marble.

I wonder what the mortgage on a place like that would be with a average down payment.
@vincentdilallo8356
@vincentdilallo8356 3 жыл бұрын
That type of inner city house runs on average anywhere between 4-6 million baht, which translates to anywhere between 120k-180k USD. Average down payment in Thailand is usually 10%, so you can estimate between 12k-15k USD. Thailand also has low-ass mortgage rates, with average mortgages of 15, 30, 45 or 60 years. Taking a 30 year mortgage, you are looking at anywhere between $450 USD/month on the low-end to roughly $700 USD/month on the high. This is if you bought the house in Bangkok, which is where I believe he is located. Once you get out of the major cities prices drop drastically. However, you would be hard pressed to purchase a house regardless since you will never be able to own the land on which the house sits, as only Thai nationals can own land in Thailand. You can still buy a house, but there is just a lot more paperwork involved.
