Hi Jim What did you do to the radial arm saw add a collet or a drill chuck What? can you or did you do a video213. Building a pin router, More in-depth video can you show how to attach the router to the saw!
@jimjackson9381Күн бұрын
@@rockinhowtosreviews3321 yes video number 213 is a more in-depth video on my pin router than the first one and I do explain towards the end of the video how I installed the router in the frame of the old motor, a radio arm motor will not spin fast enough to give you a smooth cut like a router will most routers spin at 25,000 RPMs where a radio saw or a table saw spins less than 4000 RPMs I do have one saw blade that says it can handle 7000 RPMs but most radio arm, saws, and tablesaw don’t spin that fast if you have any issues building your machine, let me know but watch the entire video 213 and it should have the information in it that you need. Hi Jim, I love your videos. I'm a retired Electronics Engineer and looking to design guitars. Your video on the pin router is just what I was looking for. Can you recommend where to locate a used radial saw and the model you have. I've located a used cast iron DeWalt but didn't want to pull the trigger before reaching out to you. Most of the ones I've seen on the internet are 10". Thanks, David

david johnson 10 inch radial arm saw is what I used and you can find them all over craigslist from $50-to $500 and the good part about it is it doesn’t have to work you’re going to get rid of The motor anyway and Mount a router if you’ve got any questions let me know right now I’m trying to dig mine out A couple viewers have said they would like to see it in action cutting a pattern so maybe that will be next weeks video we’ll see. Do you recommend for or against router collet/bit extensions for such a pin router? If for, have a suggestion as to best balanced brand?
@jimjackson93813 жыл бұрын
Well they tell you the truth I didn’t think they even made bit extensions but no I would not use them and I would go with a half inch Collett router they come with a reducing Collett for 1/4 inch bits and a quarter inch bits that I use are solid carbide and I cut the shank down shorter so they will go in the Collett further to reduce vibration and chatter marks. @@fat-hand Thanks for the link to this company I watched it and I guess that is up to you, but I’ve been doing woodworking for over 50 years and I have never had a reason to extend my router bits usually I try to make them shorter I have a couple of craftsman routers I bought years ago that as far as I’m concerned the shaft sticks Out of the router past the bearing way too far I get too much vibration and Chatter when I use those That’s why I bought a new router that excepts half inch bits with a reducing Collett for 1/4 inch bits The shaft is shorter and bigger around that gives me the finish and cut quality then I’m looking for, that’s just my opinion and you may have a need for a bit extension that’s totally up to your needs in your shop. Thanks for your video! I'm interesting in the prospect of building this. Please confirm the model number on the Craftsman model number. Is it tagged 113.29401 ? Thank you.

Thomas Krebs Hi Thomas it’s Jim I have two of these saws if you look underneath the table at the front of the saw where the elevation crank is it says craftsman and off to the right hand side in a Oval it says radial 100. And on the motor housing on the top it says code one is a K 63 and the other one is an H 63 but other than that mine doesn’t have any other numbers on that I can find , where on yours did you find that serial number If you send me your email address I can send you some better pictures mine is jimsfixitshop@gmail.com The spare saw that I have is for sale if you know anybody that wants it, and any radial arm saw would work to build one of these auto. Jim

@@jimjackson9381 Thanks for the reply. If you google "craftsman 113.29401" that is the saw. Your video info was a good catalyst for ideas.
