My Sinclair DM2 has for example 1000 Counts. I bought it for nostalgic purposes for 15€ some months before.

Very interesting in regards to the different counts on various multi-meters. I was not aware of most of what you explained Tony. Thank you for that... WELL DONE as usual!!! 10/10

Thank you! has always been confusing for me too.

To make it even more confusing - often DMM's advertised at a certain count will actually exceed the count - my Fluke 17B+ for example is supposed to be 3999 counts but it won't lose the digit until it passes 4399. I have a few 5999 count meters that will jump up to either 6099 or 6199 before losing a digit while others will flip right at 6000.

LOL.. Yes.. the cheapers go exact while to higher-level meter will do more, my Keithley 199 is 300.000 but does 314.999 :)

@@TonyAlbus Not necessarily - some cheap meters will do it also. I have a few of those.

I like the Fluke 8020. I’ve got an 8060 coming my way but it seems it’s taking forever for some reason from France….

Thank for your video. I have several types of DMM and USB meter, some type of USB meter can display voltage approximately 999899 counts, for example AVHzY CT3, Shizuku... Hope to see the accuracy review between DMM and USB meter by your devices one day.

I was a little confused with the term counts which relates to pulse counters (frequency meters). Some meters like the OWON HDS series specifies it as 'readings' which is more appropriate.

Yes agree, counts is confusing..and readings would be better… both are used in specs.

I really like your Keithley 199. Have you ever done a video about it? I would love a Keithley 2015 but I could never justify the cost. The 199 is high on my purchase list.

The Owon is really 55000 counts, not 54999 as I think you suggested (if I understood you correctly), because there are 55000 different possible values that it can display from 0.0000V to 5.4999V.
@TonyAlbus
@TonyAlbus 3 жыл бұрын
yes 55000 like the sticker if you count 0. thats better then a 4.5 with 20.000

3 1/2 digit multimeter really shouldn't be called "three and half digit multimeter" as those "1/2" isn't really meant as fraction value as "half". Same thing with 3 3/4 digit multimeter isn't supposedly called "three and three quarter digit multimeter" as those "3/4" isn't meant as a fraction of "three quarter" (0.75). So what is it then? we have 6000 counts dmm called as 3 5/6 then even those VC8145 multimeter is supposedly called 4 7/8 digit multimeter. Fluke 87V high res mode is 4 and 1/2 digit == 20000 counts Fluke 189 is 4 and 4/5 digit multimeter == 50000 counts My HP 3478A is supposedly 5 2/3 digit multimere == 300000 counts. I'll explain later.

Budi Surya Yes that was my point exactly, the counts are a much better presentation. Thank you.
