Really good review there Tony. Good to see all under test from the same source at the same time. Nice also to see dc clamp meters are getting more available at decent prices 👍

Thank you Stephen!! was in my list to see at least the CM2100 and UT210E together, then i went a bit overboard with 4 :) still was possible on the desk. I am also surpriced, the price dropped on the DC clamps and they are prity sensitive and working properly.

great comparison... I lost my UNI-T UT210E and just ordered an Owon CM2100 just so I can get to know that brand (because UNI-T is well known to me and with random great devices like the UT61E which I also happily own)... for future clamp reviews it would be great if you also put in camera a trusty dmm (fluke/keysight/gossen) also measuring the ac/dc current but in a wired way through it's own internal shunt to have as a reference more accurate measurement on screen

NCV = non contact, Live = use positive lead. The NCV is read at the little triangle on the tip of the clamp. I like the BSIDE but the plastic looks cheap. I see they sell a blue version that looks a little better.

I love my UT210E. It's a fantastic little tool. The only annoying thing is that as you mentioned, it starts in AC. I do mostly DC work so it's a bit of a pain. I have seen a hack that helps stabilise the current sensing and also changes the voltage and current defaults to DC but I dare not attempt the hack as I know that I'll brick it for sure 😂

Thanks a lot for your comparison! One question: How is the behaviour if the clamp meter will be moved (orientation,...). Is the offset jumping especially in the lowest current range? Is there a big differences between the 4 current clampmeters? Background: The usage of clamp meters by hand and not still on the table, the orientation of the devices is not perfectly constant. If the offset is not stable it could be hard to measure low current.
@TonyAlbus5 ай бұрын
Hi, i think you need to 'zero' it in the orientation you are going to use it. aspecialy when using in hand.

I've got both the Uni-T UT210E (hacked to 6000 counts) and the Owon 2100B (Bluetooth version). Funny how my Owon defaults to DC amps in all ranges, and these all seem to default to AC, but the Volts defaults to DC, weird choice to make this different I think. Also, the Owon may be 20.000 counts, but in current measurement mode (which is what people will buy this mostly for) is only 2000 counts. I think that's kind of misleading advertising, but the price (about 20 euros/dollars lower than the Uni-T) does make up for that. In my case, I like the Owon better because it is more accurate and stable compared to my Uni-T. I have an earlier version of the Uni-T I think because my PCB doesn't have the massive row of little caps soldered on it. Maybe I should just get another one some day.

Owon are building some nice kit for the hobbyist. Others like Uni-T are hit and miss like with the UT210E and UT181A which are awesome meters for the price but they build some cheap junk that poisons the well for them.
@TonyAlbus5 ай бұрын
Yes those hit and miss are a pity they do have nice stuff. Sometimes Brands just try stuff.. Siglent made a PSU that was a waste of money, but the scopes are good. every brand has something that they are not good at and try it anyway

@@TonyAlbus Proves the point that every meter has its place. Measuring is a task of comparing the unknown to the known. Instead of being concerned about brand name it is more accurate to take many measurements with a spread of meters. Say if taken a reading on 3 and one is off then add a meter and find out why. Some say true rms but give them a combined ac with dc offset and the good old analog meter is likely the true rms winner.
