From my time in France I've found the best and most common way of asking about ATMs is to use the verb 'retirer' which means 'to take out'. Many people seem to get confused when you use the word 'distributeur'. An example phrase would be, 'où est-ce que je peux retirer?' which means, 'where can I take out (money)?'
@kevinbarreau9672
@kevinbarreau9672 6 жыл бұрын
Oui c'est ça ! Where is the nearest ATM so that I can withdraw money ? = Où est le distributeur le plus proche pour que je puisse retirer de l'argent ? Withdraw money (from a bank account) = Retirer de l'argent

Alexa: Yes, there is a one dollar note in the US. It has on it a portrait of our first President, George Washington. It is also known by some colloquial names such as "buck" and "greenback". There have also been one dollar coins, such as the Sacagawea, Eisenhower and 1804 ... but none of them have been popular. Americans prefer the printed note for it's light weight, portability, folding, etc.

Hi, I was hoping you could help me with the verb "payer". As you know, "payer" can mean either pay an amount/pay a person/pay for a thing. Can you explain how one would say for example "I pay the man one euro for the apple". Are we forced to use "pour" anywhere here. Thanks

Bonjour Alexa... Est-ce que je peux dire ( tu peux m'emprunter de l'argent ) au lieu ( puis-je t'emprunter de l'argent )? 2ieme question pourquoi vous avez utilisé le verbe emprunter et prêter, ils ne sont pas la même signification??? Merci en avance
@kevinbarreau9672
@kevinbarreau9672 6 жыл бұрын
Your sentences are opposites actually, you can say "est-ce que je peux t'emprunter de l'argent?" (Can I borrow you money ?) Emprunter = Borrow, so take something from someone to give it back to him after Prêter = Share, lend, loan, give someone something that he will give you back :)

Lending people is a bad idea. it teaches them to be dependent on you or how to take advantage of you. If you're going to borrow/give someone money, give it to them. don't let them borrow.
