They pitched a third Jump Street movie called MIB 23 that was a crossover with Men in Black. The very idea of it was so bonkers that I would've loved to have seen it. It came pretty close, they even hired a director (Lord and Miller were busy with Spider-Verse and other projects), but it fell apart at the last minute. Lord and Miller have said that if they make a third movie, they have some idea how to make all of the sequels from the end credits "canon" but didn't elaborate on what it was. Also, Richard Grieco, one of the last members of the original "21 Jump Street," appears in the Jump Street Generations clip -- I felt like you understood he was from the show even if you don't recognize him. They also put Dustin Nguyen's face on the poster even though he doesn't appear in the movie. Jillian Bell, who is so funny in the movie, had a webseries called "Idiotsitter" on KZbin via Comedy Central. They developed it into a full TV show, but when they did that they took the shorts offline and they're still unavailable as far as I know, which is a shame. I liked the show, but I loved the shorts, and I wish I could still watch them. She's incredible though. She is also funny in the movie Rough Night, which is not nearly as good as these movies but is pretty funny.

I love that the head football coach is Jon Benjamin. You don't see him doing live action much. He's the voice of Bob Belcher and Archer, amongst many others.

I was about to chime in "he was also the football coach in _Not Another Teen Movie"_ but upon rewatching his scene he's just the trainer. Still a weirdly specific overlap :) Not a perfect film by any means but waaay underrated, and his bit is one of the best!

I used to run a talent agency. One production came into town needing 200+ extras cast. For over a month, I was putting out ads, printing out contracts, getting them signed, coordinating with the director on how many extras were needed for each scene shot. And I had to make sure that each of them filled out the proper paper work for the production so that they could get paid. For the three week shoot, I was sending out call sheets, emailing, calling, and sometimes driving the extras to set. A couple times, when an extra couldn't make it, I had to plug myself into the scene. I got to work with Thomas Lennon, Richard Kind, and a bunch of other great actors. But anyway, my point is that I know how crazy it must have been to coordinate all those extras for the beach crowd scene at the end.

The “Jump Street Generations” was in reference to the original 21 Jump Street show. Those two guys you didn’t recognize were on the original show. The one Channing spoke to was Booker. That’s why he called him a legend.

Before that of course there was _Star Trek: The Next Generation_ which arguably made the "Next Generation" title popular, and maybe _Degrassi: The Next Generation_ is most relevant here since it revolves around kids at school... But only _Star Trek_ did a _Star Trek: Generations_ movie :)

In the credit-sequels, at 35:44, JUMP STREET GENERATIONS, the "legend" is from season three of the original series, Officer Dennis Booker, played by Richard Grieco. The poster also shows Dustin Nguyen, who played Officer Harry Truman (H.T.) Ioki for most of the series run.

So good! Jonah Hill did my generation right by making these movies. I was seriously skeptical as one who watched the tv show when it aired. In the end credits the one you were all confused about, “Generations” featured Richard Grieco who played Booker in the last couple of years and got a spin-off tv show.

These movies were born during Hollywood's weird "80's action comedy franchise resurection" fixation, with The Dukes of Hazard, Starsky & Hutch, The A Team and the Mission Impossible sequels. They just decided to give it an edge and have fun with it.

32:50 Hired? Just put out your filming and people will just show up they probably just filmed this during spring break and just told them to cheer like something awesome just happened. This is basically how it's done whenever something is filmed in or around my city, like that Truck Chase in Amazing Spider-Man 2 that was supposed to be set up for 3, they just told local media we're here from X to Y shooting in this area between 1A and 2B then they took everyone's phones and filled out NDA's. They were able to lean into things a little more because the comedic timing/theme of things were already established in the last one + easier to stomach because of the age thing like you guys were saying haha

Honestly the weirdest part of the first one is Brie Larson - not only is the age problem awkward, but since she's much more established now, this really doesn't feel like her kind of role, so she feels out of place.

Love both movies but I enjoyed 21 Jump Street's cast better. Dave Franco I wanted to see more of in this one. 22 Jump Street had maybe a cooler story ? Idk.
