Thanks DNC... this man would have been our president if you has just stayed the heck out of it and not rigged it. This is why I love Bernie. You can tell from the way he speaks this is not a job for him.. this is his passion he deeply cares about the American people and the fate of our country. Keep fighting Bernie... still feeling the bern and will till he is elected president and beyond that as well.

Kuyon. The DNC did what the donors told them too. The same donors own both parties. They own the Military and the justice system too.
@KuyonReim1597 жыл бұрын
William Ryan, That is my point the donors control the government. We do not live in a democracy we live in an oligarchy.. or very near to a full on one. The 1% and donors are scared of Bernie because they know he will shake things up so bad for them they will lose their strangle hold on the government.

When are American lawmakers going to learn that health care for all is NOT a partisan issue, health care should be a right BY LAW, and anyone who thinks otherwise does not care about the common good, and is harboring a corrupt agenda. What a waste of time and effort. You will never have a clear-thinking, energetic and productive economy if you continue to marginalize millions of people by playing politics with health care. Get it together, people, or you will pay for this in the long haul.

At the very least the argument for Single Payer forces them to leave Obamacare alone.
@AdamSmith-gs2dv7 жыл бұрын
Kate Hudson No the problem with healthcare is that we have too much government regulation, the insurance companies can't provide competitive plans since they are forced to include a whole bunch of junk in their plans no one will use (for example, women's Heath coverage for single men and vice versa). Also Obama undermines the principal of insurance, the more risk you have the more you pay. With Obamacare all the healthy people who don't use insurance pay for the sick people that constantly use it. This is the opposite to every other insurance (ie I don't charge safe drivers more to make up for the bad ones, I charge the bad ones more cause they are higher risk) and ends up raising costs for most people and lowering it for the few. Also while not denying for preexisting conditions may sound good, it actually ends up hurting insurance companies cause people will buy it when they get sick and then cancel it later. This happened to AAA for a long time (with people signing up right when they have to get towed and then not renewing) and it almost bankrupted them!
@woofwolf4357 жыл бұрын
+Adam Smith here's the thing. Insurance should _not_ be for profit. If you allow people to get rich off of charging healthy people money, and sick people even _more_ money, you are defeating the entire point of healthcare. the point of healthcare is to get help to people who need it, but aren't rich enough to just buy whatever doctors/medicine/ surgeries may be needed. How are you going to do that if the people who can't afford all that, can't afford health insurance either? Single payer (more commonly referred to as 'socialist healthcare' by the right) has not only _proven_ (this is not opinion, there is hard evidence to support this) to be cheaper, but also more effective than what we have had from the beginning of this country (America spends more on healthcare than any other modern nation, and we get far worse quality of care. Our healthcare system ranks 23'rd in the world, just barely above Saudi Arabia. A totalitarian theocracy in the middle of a civil war.)

“The greatest country, the richest country, is not that which has the most capitalists, monopolists, immense grabbings, vast fortunes, with its sad, sad soil of extreme, degrading, damning poverty, but the land in which there are the most homesteads, freeholds - where wealth does not show such contrasts high and low, where all men have enough - a modest living- and no man is made possessor beyond the sane and beautiful necessities.” -WALT WHITMAN, AMERICAN POET (1819-1892)

To say that healthcare is politics is absolutely inhumane. Charlie Hurt wrote an article about Jimmy Kimmel criticizing and insulting him for exploiting his child as a way to support bloated federal bureaucracy. I have a question for you, Mr. Hurt; if advocating for someone's health and well-being is regarded as exploitative, then why should anyone ever care about another person ever? In no way should healthcare be a political issue. It should be a human right. We cannot look past the injustice of denying any human being basic healthcare and health coverage. Before civil rights, slavery and segregation was a political issue. A Senator Strom Thurmond went so far as to say that civil rights were unconstitutional and branded the people supporting it as "radical." Today, it would be unconscionable to defend slavery. I don't care how free you think the market should be or how reduced the role of government should be- healthcare is a right for all human beings. Any and every human being deserves the chance to live and be with family and friends. I volunteer at a hospital and I meet a person every day that may be dead without healthcare. Well, they are alive and well and able to smile and laugh and engage with other people because of our healthcare system. Whether you are a Republican or a Democrat or apolitical altogether, there's no doubt that we can't have the right to pursue life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness if healthcare is not a right. On behalf of all humans, make healthcare a basic human right!

When billionaires like the Koch brothers are able to push Republican legislators to support a bill that would actually kill their consitituents, we are in serious trouble in this country, we have ceased to be a Democracy. We need public financing of political campaigns now!

Let me tell you guys something about Single Payer health care....and just for the record, I am a Canadian, and I occasionally use the system when needed. In Canada, yes, we can see the doctor for free, and have them diagnose us for free. However, in Canada, many of our medications are not free. When you break your leg, you have to pay for the cast, you have to pay for the crutches. Our system is not free, and it never has been. We spend 34% of our budget in the province of Ontario on healthcare. That comes from tax payers. Healthcare is never free. So even if someday you guys do get universal healthcare, don't get too excited. Your taxes are going to go up by insane amounts, and you will still have to pay for everything other than getting seen by the doctor.
