USC fans think they should have won because they have 5 star players and iowa only has 3 stars, but Iowa constantly sends players to the NFL every year. Iowa is very good at finding underrated players and developing them into NFL prospects. Not to mention that the star rating system is very flawed as guys like Tristan wirfs(future 1st round pick) wasn't a 5 star and ISM who is only a 3 star. So even though we have a lot of 3 stars we have a lot of guys who play like 4 and 5 stars. Go Hawks!

Our program is a joke, we can't gameplan, we can't make adjustments either at halftime or in game, we can't develop players....and now, we can't even recruit anymore. Music Universe yes...you are right. When the now late Hayden Fry came in as head coach in 1979, Iowa had losing seasons for 17 yrs straight and he wanted to change the culture and attitude. Part of that change included getting permission from Steeler’s ownership to design our uniforms like their’s because Coach Fry wanted his team to resemble a winning team. Steelers ownership went to their own equipment manager who sent Terry Bradshaw’s uniform to our equipment manager at the time to copy all of the specifications of that uniform (I.e. stripe measurements, numbers, look, design), and then applied them to our uniforms thereby giving us the Steeler look.

As a San Diego born midwest raised Padres, Iowa Hawkeyes, and (Former) San Diego Chargers fan.... I cannot express how much this win meant to me..... My families college team, playing (L.A.) in Jack Murphey/Qualcomm stadium before it got demolished, and winning in such a fashion will always be engraved in my memories as my favorite game of all time... If you are a San Diego native, or a San Diego fan you understand, Hawks fans too, this will forever be remembered as "The last win" in my head... Forever San Diego, and Forever Iowa Hawkeyes! Slovis looks like the clear future of USC, he was throwing dimes while he was in and looked like he had total control of the offense. For Iowa, this was one those teams that they put out every 3-5 years that has the perfect balance of talent and experience; man are they terrifying when they get that balanced combo. I think OC Harrell will learn to run more at USC but in his first year as OC there, I don't think he did terrible. I doubt he expected to go from North Texas to USC like he did.

I"m a fan of the Trojans, and we all know that the team is not better than the Hawkeyes. The guy on the radio is delusional. Honestly, the Trojans didn't even deserve to be in a bowl game. Slovis is an impressive QB. What’s really sad is that USC beat playoff hopeful Utah with Matt Fink, their 3rd string QB who couldn’t do anything against this Iowa D. Honest, Utah vs Iowa would have been a much better game, and USC vs Texas would have been a better matchup as well.

Maybe, but definitely would not have been closer if Iowa’s TWO first round draft picks would have played rather than sit out for the draft. Tight Ends Noah Fant & TJ Hockenson would have added another 100 yards receiving & a couple more touchdowns for the Hawkeyes. Would have only added to the blowout.

MSU also won. 2-0 as a conference. My favorite team is the Buckeyes as I am from rural central Ohio. My second favorite team? the rest of the Big Ten. Little nervous about the Michigan vs Alabama game and the Auburn vs Minnesota game but I think the rest of the games are winnable. That said I would love to see Michigan and Minnesota win those games.

I will say that rooting for Maryland and Rutgers is taking some getting used to because they are really really east coast, but I especially like the rest of the Big Ten. I always especially liked Iowa, Wisconsin, Penn State and Michigan. Iowa had Chuck Long and Tim Dwight two of my all time favorite Big Ten players. I root for Michigan because I love the rivalry and the Michigan tradition. Wisconsin football is smash mouth football like the kind we used to play in high school. Though not original Big Ten teams Nebraska and Penn State were two teams that growing up I always seemed to be rooting for on New Years day every year ,because they were always facing an SEC or ACC team that I hated LOL.

I was predicting 40-17 Last bowl game Iowa's offense faced off with in my opinion the best defense in the country 3 Td's. So it was easy for me because I know Iowa's potential. KF defenses are typically very good I think his offense is built for them and works well in the B10, hurry up offense yeah not Iowa. Iowa showed who they are on offense on their first possession against USC dang near took half of the first qtr to score, and that's Iowa football. Iowa's just as good as the #2 best team in the Big 10 not a lot of separation there. Iowa's 2 of the 3 losses has is against top 10 defense in the country and if Iowa's defense would have made crucial stops in the season they would be top 10 defense also, it's a very fine line.

@@billjean6754 I get you. I follow the B1G, but live out in Southern Cal. I've watch iowa this year and know they are solid. I do think coach Ferentz had the hawkeyes prepared 100%. My point is this: this was the best game the hawkeyes have played all year. But that is my opinion...and they did it against a talented USC program (4-5 star recruits). One thing I've learned about iowa: they develop their (3-4 star mostly) players/recruits better than most B1G programs.

Teams like Arkansas (2-10 on the season) and this USC team getting absolutely embarrassed by Iowa are great examples of how 5 star recruits mean NOTHING if you can’t fit them into the team well and coach them well. Iowa recruits 4 and 3 star recruits that fit the team well, and they turn them into amazing players with their coaching.
