Most of the points in this game were created by mistakes. Mississippi State had 16 of their points from mistakes (3 after 12 yard Iowa punt, 13 from 2 TDs after turnovers) and Iowa had 14 (2 TDs after turnovers). What an incredible performance by both defenses. This game was awesome.

Fun game to watch. Iowa grad here (went there for 4 years of cheap season tix and a math degree I'm paying down). Bowl games are a blast when they're between two defensive teams because the offenses have a month to find nooks against the opponent's defense. Iowa caught MSU in a couple aggressive blown coverages and beat them on some middle outs with a variety of guys. MSU used the extra blocker you get when your QB is your main running back and pounded Iowa's defense into a few play action mishaps and a few misdirection misses which resulted in long gains. The game was field position, sacks, turnovers, and big plays. That's awesome football to watch.

As an Iowa fan, State has an otherworldly defense. Iowa could not get the run game going at all and was fortunate to get what they could through the air. Just glad to get the W!

On Easley's 2nd TD, Brandon Smith had a great block on the corner covering him. Just one of the many little things we did well to win this game against a good MSU squad. As a sTaTe fan/graduate, it pains me how Fitzgerald is still given credit when everyone knows he’s been the achilles heel ALL season & Moorehead hasn’t been the best play caller in certain KEY situations EITHER all season! YES Fitz has all the accolades, running title this/hella yards that, but he regressed as a pastor as he got older & that shit hurt our season this year. We had THE NUMBER ON DEFENSE IN THE FUCKIN’N NATION for Gods sake! Hell, IOWA had -20 yards rushing in the game!!! Im just not one of those fans that are satisfied with Golden Eggs and Florida bowl games, and this season was a waste with some of the BEST talent in the SEC! I’m pretty unbiased and am the first to admit a fair and square loss, but MSU gave Iowa damn near EVERYTHING, I wasn’t surprised at MSU’s defensive performance because they had the 3rd best defense in the nation behind Clemson and Bama coming into the game. I would’ve been ok if both teams played a perfect game and Iowa came out with the win, but this is very frustrating. Pretty much summed up MSU’s season
