I love the Franciscans. I was born in San Francisco ( Honduras not California ). Our Catholic Church is San Francisco De Asis, I went to school with the same name. Iwas Baptized at the church with the same name. Our town celebrates San Francisco de Asis in October 4TH every year, our Saint is San Francisco de Asis. Since this is a call to vocation video, I would say I am with you in praying that more and more people would learn about the Francisan Way of Life. Italian here 🇮🇹 And I can confirm that all school children here study the beautiful Cantico delle Creature. A small correction is in order, though: it's not the first Italian text in absolute, but the first with a known author and of course it's far more significant than earlier examples. So we can still say that St. Francis is the first known author in Italian literature 💪🏽

I was pleasantly surprised by the ending. I had the feeling that the popular catholic youtube channels didn't really address vocations as a real possibility of entering an order/clergy, and instead just talked about it in vague terms. Sure, all the vocations boil down to serving God and that's ok, but we do need people coming in, as important as catholic lay families are (they're the heart of the church). Vocations going up around the world is a dream and a reason to pray.

I appreciate your enthusiasm and deep faith. My mother sends me your videos regularly and so I say this within a context of knowing you have the best of intentions. Quite a few of these claims are not things that many of the most vulnerable people in our world, present and past tense, would say 'thank you' for and I would encourage you to explore that in a serious way. You have a moment of apology for supressing the Jesuits, but proudly claim Columbus who was personally responsible for selling nine and ten year-old girls into sexual slavery just to name one, well documented in his own words, horrific fact about him. Franciscans and other Catholics have been involved directly in the painful and impoverished deaths of whole groups of Indigenous peoples. There is much to be proud of as a Franciscans to be sure, but do so with reflection if you truly want to encourage vocation, especially among young people who are far more aware of this history than you seem to think and would be very turned off by some of these claims.

Thanks! Very interesting together with the video on the role of Franciscans in the economy. If I may I would like to make a correction to this video. America extends from thevery tip of Tierra del Fuego all the way to the Bering Strait and Alaska... not just the United States. Throughout the continent Franciscans were actively present and many were saints. I would like to mention in particular San Francisco Solano who preached the Gospels while playing the violin mostly in what is modern Perú, but also in Bolivia and northern Argentina. Imaging walking thousands of kilometres preaching and playing music. It is said that when he died in Lima, at the moment of his passing people present in the places where he had preached heard his sweet violin once more as if he were present. His impact was so strong that even today, in the Argentine province of Santiago del Estero the main instrument used in local folk music remains the violin. As Pope Francis highlights in All his letters and encyclicals, let us integrate and bring together who we are and what we are for the greater glory of God. Paz y Bien!

Missing on this list is something I consider supremely important: the reminder that we cannot serve God and mammon. The Eastern Church with its great wealth and many in the West seemed to obliterate this teaching of Christ. Because of St. Francis, we do not have to be ashamed of choosing a life of poverty.

All well and good but if possible pls make a video abt the Portiuncula indulgence as well. 🙏 Too many online posts don't have uniformity. Nobody saying what's the latest one! Other sources saying only Franciscan churches shld be visited. Most also say just pray 3 prayers is enough (Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be), another says 6x of the 3 prayers. Like come on, why even 6??? Somebody doing it for the first time (like me) will get all confused on what to do and if we're doing it right. And then how can we gain it several times a day, if we go to 10 random Catholic churches and pray required prayers we get 10 indulgences? Nobody's explaining it clearly! How can many souls in purgatory benefit from this wonderful church practice if there's no clarity or uniformity in online posts, even from Franciscans! 😢 Like seriously why don't people post the Pope decrees or whatever sources too!
