As an atheist I agree. Though I don’t think it’s really as much of a sacrifice as it seems. he seems happy. Clearly he’s getting something out of it that to him is at least close in value to what he gave up. And it really does kind of comport with our best scientific understanding of what leads to happiness and life satisfaction. Possessions and wealth don’t lead to much happiness. Inability to feed yourself leads to unhappiness but after you are meeting your basic needs more money doesn’t help. What really helps is developing meaningful connections to others, helping others, a sense of purpose, and feeling proud of the life you're leading. Each of which his life gives him in abundance.

Until the day he died in 2018 (at 81) he remained committed to his faith and helped so many lives. @@lavander961 I would like to add something so that others arent led astray. In Catholic teaching, it is not sinful or lustful to think that a man or woman is beautiful. It becomes sinful when you see them as simply an object of pleasure. See (CCC) paragraph 2351. Due to the incarnation, God became man, and Jesus is fully man and fully God. Becuase he is fully man, he experienced the emotions of humanity. John 11:35 states that Jesus wept over the death of Lazarus. In Luke 22:44 Jesus is in agony over the thought of his passion and asks the Father to let the cup pass from him if it is His will. Sorrow and fear are human experiences that aren't intrinscally evil, and so is attraction. Therefore, it is possible that at some point during his life, Jesus felt attracted to a woman. However, since Jesus is sinless, he would not have veiwed her as a object of pleasure but as a beloved daughter of the Father. God Bless!

People seek religion for many reasons, and it's arrogant and disrespectful to group all of those who do into one negative category. When you do that, you don't look any better than or different from anyone else who does that regardless of their beliefs. Not every religious person believes that they're only good because of their fear of a bad afterlife, and not every non-religious person has the willpower and capacity to be a good person on their own.

I think a lot of people think that this life requires way more sacrifice, but choosing a life of romantic love and family ALSO requires sacrifice. You have to be able to sacrifice some pleasures and personal freedoms to do either. God called humanity both to “be fruitful” AND sacrifice the self and serve humanity. Neither is better or worse than the other and both can be used to glorify God. I think you having this channel and gently explaining your life the way you do is amazing and inspirational! I hope one day this way of life isnt such a mystery to people, and people can appreciate it

I don’t know how people vow to chastity for life. Until marriage I can understand, but life sounds really hard.
@Ujuani683 жыл бұрын
No, we just channel, or TRY to channel that energy into helping others. I clean at a Christian nursing school, for example, THEY pay my needs. I have never driven a car in my life, but I have a bicycle. I use public tranportation, when necessary. It needs to be coordinated, according to when I need to be at this or that place, but it is not a impossible. I have lived a life of chastety for 24 years, and I just have so much PEACE. And freedom! No break-up dramas, no crazy phone bills, no sleepless nights because of crying kids. 😄 But: LOTS of time helping the homeless, the old and the likes, sometimes even councelling younger folks. But the best is the purpose. We choose to live like this, to create a center of the divine purpose: Serving God and trying to be a humble, hard-working, loving Christian under the guidance of The Lord. Make sense? 👋😀 ✝️🕯🌐💒🎁 🍞🐟 🦁🐑 🥰 🌹☘

@@Ujuani68 I see the value. There is the other side. God called down Adam and Eve to multiply and replenish the earth. He also gave Eve to Adam because he knew that men and women were meant to be with each other. We are cut out like puzzle pieces and we may have our growing problems...especially in this new world that is rejecting traditional values and families, but we were made for each other and I’m not sure if anyone is supposed to oppose that. I see your point though. You made some great points I just think we can help others WITH our spouses too.
@carelsby3 жыл бұрын
I think thats something that is beautiful about humanity; there are some of us called to romantic love and families, and some that are called to help humanity. Both require sacrifice: having a family sacrifices personal freedoms for the sake of caring for your family, and those called to be alone sacrifice personal freedoms in order to care for society and community. Neither is less or more
