＃22【製材】雷神杉 落雷で真っ二つに裂けた杉が製材で新たな姿に蘇りました！ I saw a cedar tree that was split in half by lightning.

I once made a butt for Muzzle-loading Rifal out of the roots of a tree I had blown, out off the ground in England & it was English Oak the root gran was curly & the wood - would not split for the fire. So I made myself a but for -my rifle out of it years later A Gentleman, seeing it tried to buy it I. Refused to sell but I had to let it go years later. He still has it to this day. I'm now in my 80s & working on sticks But his Grandson Inherited & Tell's me the gran is excellent when oiled well There is a lot to be said, for some age in a bit of wood. Les England

コメントありがとうございます☆(*^_^*) 鋸刃の寿命は、製材する木の種類や製材の過程で発生するアクシデントによって大きく異なります。 木の硬さと木に含まれる油の量がそれに影響します。 ケヤキ、カエデ、ムクノキ、イスノキなどを鋸で挽くと、鋸刃の寿命が短くなります。 また、小さな石等を巻き込んで成長している場合があり、その部分を切ってしまうと鋸刃が傷つきます。 製材の音と鋸刃の断面を見て、いつ交換するかを判断します。

今は機械式のノコギリで簡単に板材が作れますが機械の無かった昔は手鋸で丸太から長い板を切り出していたのでしょうか?｡直線･直角の精度も出しくいだろうし､何よりも縦方向に何尺も切っていくのはとんでもない労力だったと思います｡当然価格も高いだろうと思います｡しかしそのわりには江戸時代以前から木造住宅はどんなに安っぽい長屋でも板材がずいぶんと使われているのが不思議です｡　もしかしたら効率の良い縦切断技術でもあったのか､実際の切り出し作業はどんな様子だったのでしょう｡

工場作業と一緒にしてはいけない世界なのかもしれませんが、ワークと刃物の間に入ったり、移動中のワークに手を触れたり、吊ったワークのちかくにいたり（重心崩れて片方落ちた時、足が下にあったら…）、フォークリフト移動方向に人が入ってたり、もうドキドキしっぱなしでした。 お怪我なさいませんように…
