I just used this powder in 6.5 Grendel today with the 120gr Gold Dot and had to stop shooting... I stayed a half grain under max (32.2gr per their load data) and started with 30gr in a 20 inch barrel AR15... My starting charge gave me 2614fps and the next charge up was .4gr and I was at 2648... Zero signs of pressure with 2 more charges to go but didn't shoot them because I know I have to be over pressure because those velocities are freakin insane... I'm assuming my scale malfunctioned and I ended up with way more powder but it was spot on with everything I shot today... I'm gonna pull the bullets tmro and double check things but when I dropped my check weights on the scale it was reading fine and even grabbed some factory ammo to check my chronograph and it was fine so I'm kind of dumb founded with those velocities...

Best video I’ve seen on any powder, well done Sir. I been looking at Shooters World Match Rifle for 7.62x51 / .308 I’m loading 147 grain M80 Ball ammo , While I have a decent amount of other suitable powders, at $150.00 for 8 LBS it should prove to be very economical. Thanks for taking your valuable time to produce this video. I will subscribe to your channel . Two thumbs up !

Nice info. I've got an 8# jug of Precision on the way. I've had good luck with it. It's an extruded powder. According to Ken Johnson (SW ballistician) Precision is slightly slower than Varget, all SW data is tested with a 24" barrel except 5.56, which is tested with a 20" barrel, and SW load data should be getting a big update any day now.

shooters world match powder was the first accurate 2520 made out of the czech republic. then accurate changed suppliers for the 2520 to the Belgin republic. then the Belgin supplier for accurate had a big fire at their plant and went down for many years and 2520 was unavailable to the reloader until recently and from the bottle it is now made in the USA. so shooters world is the same as 2520 only renamed to match rifle or 073-06 from what i have been told.

Shooters World powder is just rebranded Czech powder Lovex from Explosia Vsetin (czech town). Actually, they are sole supplier of powder for Sellier Bellot. Not bad powder for pistol or general rifle usage like competition or hunting, but precision rifle shooters prefer Vihtavouri even here in Czech rep and Slovakia. After all, Finnish rifle, finnish bullet and finnish powder - best combo.

I use the heck out of their Clean Shot pistol powder in several calibers. Powder seems to be regional here and Clean Shot is about the only one available to us here. Wish they would carry some of the rifle powders too, Stuff meters like salt and is accurate in everything I've shot it in.

@@Oculi_tui_vitare Yep, I don't know why they are ashamed of their number designations, but if you look on the front of the label in tiny little letters it will say DO 32 on the type that says Cleanshot. I love it too. load a ton of it in .380 and .45ACP. The Cleanshot type is the only one of these powders I've ever seen where I live, but they make types for about all reloading needs.

@@ditchdigger93 these code names define the type of gunpowder e.g. prefix D mean double base powder (mostly ball powder), S single base (mostly extruded). Bigger number - slower burning. Easy to find best powder to use I have the impression that not all powders have their counterparts like d073.5 common use in 5,56x45 or S071 very good in 6,5x55 SE

One more thing with the Wilson defense 300HAM'R you might explore doing subsonic loads with this cartridge using the lighter bullets and Trail Boss powder. I also remember seeing one that you did on the 300 Blackout using a light bullet and things like Cream of Wheat and cotton to try and get a subsonic load with a light bullet again look at Trail Boss powder it is designed specifically for this because of the powder design it takes up a lot of space with a very light load.
@jonjames4281
@jonjames4281 5 жыл бұрын
the twist rate of the 300 ham is 1:15, (300 blk 1:8or7) doubt you'll ever get anything to stabilize out of it going subsonic. simply not made to do subs. if they would make the 300 ham in a 1:8 twist i'd buy a barrel today.

A video idea for you would be take an easy caliber like 308w, but do some loads with standard bullets and powders. I think you'll be shocked the accuracy within 300yds one can coax out of flat based SP and RN bullets. Probably be the cheapest video you'll ever run. It'd also be interesting to watch you run some Duplex loads sometime if you get really brave, or show how loads change with a major swap in primers.

The long rifle I worked up a load for 6.5 CM cloverleaf @ 100 yds but more recoil to me than superformance the match rifle is good for light bullets in .243 win I had to slow them down for 55gr Sierra BK & 60 gr varminter fbhp I had them hummin' @ 4029fps 1 1/2" groups @ 440yds outta my Ruger predator I primarily use for .223rem 35gr-77gr all sub moa and better accuracy and velocities than any powder I have used I like loading up 62gr nosler fbhp for coyote hunting. But I found my best loads 1/10 increments 1/10 makes all the difference my load for 62gr Hornady bthp is 26.8 gr SWMR fed ar match primers (all 62gr loads) and 26.9gr SWMR for 60gr v-max like I was saying that 1/10 makes all the difference in the world for .25 MOA groups outta 20" Wilson combat super sniper barrel I'm getting 2857 fps for 77gr SMK I finally worked up some loads using precision rifle for. ..243win 87 Hornady varmint bthp. You mentioned the Nosler BT varmints in 60 gr. I got a box of 250 of the 55 gr. and can't get them to shoot in any load so far in the Remington 700. The VMAXs and even the Hornady 55 gr FMJBT shot fine and just over an in. groups at 200 yards. Don't know why. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the bullets. Weight about 15 of them and the weights of some were on the heavy side by 3-4 grains so maybe that's the problem, but the FMJBT were about the same way except underweight. Never weighed any of the VMAX. Kinda disappointing going through brass prep for accuracy when bullet weights vary like I just saw with those Noslers.

Like your channel a lot -- it's great! One thing I would ask is to revisit some of the more promising loads and attempt to really dial them in via charge weights, seating depth, etc. all in an effort to get them shooting as accurately as possible. I have yet to see any of your loads REALLY shoot well,... some show promise, but most are pretty pedestrian and not worthy of further refinement -- believe me, I'm all-too-familiar with this element of reloading,... dialing in the accuracy, quantifying its' ballistic solution, and shooting at distance would be a nice adjunct to your channel,... just a thought.

I’ve come across very expensive rifles that people an gunsmiths hav had brakes put on that made groups a mess to deal with....my guess that particular brake ( boss)browning has put on their over the counter rifles has a lot to do with bbl length, bbl taper... and brake weight and being adjustable.... also the action bedding to go along with it... just the bedding alone I can confirm it because my .270 boss bedding I’ve took it out and did steel bedding... mistake!...it threw the adjustment off for that particular head weight altogether.... luckily I had enough adjustable movement to compensate the bedding.... so I would not doubt the harmonics with anything additional on the end of a bbl would affect groups.... heavy bbl or not.... have any doubt ?.... try recreating your best load and recreate that same group size....

You can do the samething with a flash hider and peel washers. I don't do it anymore but it works. I got tired of cleaning the darn thing so my new barrel doesn't have one

I have a question about reloading for the .223. I have an adjustable gas block on an AR that is set for some of my cheaper over the counter ammo. Will this affect anything when working up loads on this gun?

Great video, have you ever thought about stretching your loads out to 3-500 yards? That seems to add another level to verifying good loads. Also cause I dont want to find the other video... what did you think of the article AMP wrote about salt bath annealing?

Hey Johnny, love your channel. Have you done any loads for the 223/5.56 with wc844 millitary pull down powder? I am finding it difficult to locate load data for it other then people claiming it has a similar burn rate to h335, but they Also say that it swings hard from slow to hot burn rates depending upon the lot in which you got.

I know a few highpower shooters that used to use wc844, there's probably someone on the cmp forum with data

I'm curious as to how often you give your barrel a good cleaning and whethr you also reshoot the same loads - the magnetospeed . That strapped to the barrel will change harmonics significantly. A great group with it might end up a terrible load without it and vice versa. The strap on Chrono is basically only good to find your optimum charge weight range. I prefer a shoot through or lab radar as it doesn't effect barrel harmonics.

I use magneto speed to find quality SD. Generally I have found if my speeds are consistent I can adjust the rest. If its a harmonics issue worse comes to worse I'll use a tuner.

Have you loaded any of the 40gr VMax at 2.200? Looks like at 2.250 you're losing a lot of bearing surface with the neck.

Old video I know, but I'm barely finding this. Is match rifle pretty temp stable or is it very sensitive?

I would like to see you shoot the 69 gr with the same charge of powder you are shooting the 60 gr with I think you would get better groups and more consistent numbers

Would like to know if you have any plans to do videos on the new Wilson defense 300 hamr. If you go on their website they have load data brass and barrels to build your own upper or for a little over $2000 you can buy a complete rifle. Barrels run between $273 I believe and $327 dollars.
