Absolutely agree! You notice for example on the soles of the feet, there is a high level of detail there. It's something that became more prevalent in recent years, and now it would be hard for any sculptor to neglect that without seeming suddenly inferior. The ability to do 3D printing has created a high level of detail that I wouldn't have imagined possible 20 years ago!

Without any arguments, this is the most perfect Patagotitan figure I've ever seen. And this massive gentle giant looks so pretty with its unusual color scheme. I think I've never seen a sauropod with this type of color variation (Red looks good on this one). I can clearly see that you are so excited to have this amazing figure because your voice says it all 😍🤩. And as I always say I love these long videos. Thanks Rajitha for your kind words as always, but as always I have to say that my knowledge is only that of an amateur who is has pretty selective knowledge based on interests. Indeed! I couldn't believe it when I saw it was in 1:35, a dream I never thought possible not without costing an arm and a leg to ship. The skin detail is truly ahead of some of his older models (which I can judge only from the photos). I wish I knew how to paint and build.... it must be an incredible feeling to not have just a beautiful sculpt you want, and then paint it in exactly the colours you want!

This is what I’ve always said-doing sauropods in 1/35 is absolutely doable as affordable figures by utilizing a three part assembly to cut down on cost and packaging…..PNSO…..🙂 This looks awesome. Now, I just to know how much and where from.

Thanks to my friend introducing this! As soon as soon as I saw a picture of it, I fell in love immediately. My favourite dinosaur from my favourite dinosaur group, the 1:35 size, the form, and my friend tells me the shipping was surprisingly reasonable thanks to the fibreglass. There is detail on this that I didn't even notice until after I watched my own video. I like introducing people to worthy artists who are less well-known, so that's a big bonus of course!

I'm thrilled with the quality of his work. The joins of neck and tail are virtually invisible. He adapted my suggestions on paint scheme beautifully. I also got this model from Ademar. I think it's the best 1/35 big sauropod available out there, for a great price value. I chose the same color as you DinoDragon as I found it was the best balance between a naturral and vibrant tone, so thanks for you video. Ademar even accepted to put the nostrils further down the snout on mine, as on modern reconstructions. I put a link on my previous comment to more pictures of it, but looks like it was deleted for some reasons.

I've never been a huge fan of sauropods, but this Patagotitan has me in awe. A 1:35 titanosaur! The sheer size of it is a sight to behold. Imagine making T.rex and Giganotosaurus look like turkeys... As always, I've learnt much from your science sections, especially the differences between macronarians and diplodocoids. If I ever have the space and budget for a 1:35 scale titanosaur, I'm definitely going for this one!

Have to say its the first model I've seen coming close to the W Dragon Giraffatitan, the imho top sauropod figure of all times, this is a close second or even draw, wow!

I definitely agree about the high quality and aesthetics of the W-Dragon. In fact my favourite brachiosaurid thus far _is_ in fact the W Dragon Giraffatitan (original paintjob). There is something about that form + colour that puts it ahead of anything else mass-produced, and it's a must-have for any sauropod lover.

@DinosDragons how would you say the finish and paintjob compares in hand? The Patagotitan has a huge plus in having scales not just skin, but even a custom figure would be hard pressed to top the Giraffatitan paintjob. The Patagotitan is just airbrushed or is there also layers of colors?

@@bbag1550 There are definitely layers of colours on the Patagotitan. However I would say that if you compare to the Giraffatitan, there is a kind of fineness that isn't quite capture on the Patagotitan. If you look at some areas like the head, more could probably be done, but in fairness, when my friend ordered this, he gave Ademar an illustrated picture, and from what I've seen, it does look close to the picture, which is flat. So too some of the other references he provided Ademar. So if you really like the kind of very find subtletly and layering, you many actually prefer the W Dragon Giraffatitan. For me, on balance, the _form_, _detail_ and _accuracy to the science_ more than outweighs that, but I would say right now my two favourite macronarians have to be either of these.

Speaking on the mass of sauropods like Argentinosaurus: there really is not any truly robust way of dialing in on a specific mass in life, because there are so many unknown variables with the soft tissues, tissue density, intraspecific variation in size (saying you know how big they could get from the remains we do have is akin to finding a partial skeleton of one to a few humans and thinking they represent anything even close to the kind of mass or height you can FIND in living humans. The average western man is 175 cm tall, or 5'9" and weighs 77 kg if not obese, or 170 lbs. I, on the other hand, am 188 cm tall and weigh between 93 and 100 kg on average, which represents up to a 30% difference in mass (not fat, I just have a more robust musculoskeletal structure than many) and a 7.4% difference in height. Scale that up to an 80 ton sauropod you are looking at a 104 ton sauropod instead, which, by the way, is within the realm of some previous estimates. I'm far from the biggest WE get, too. Look at Yao Ming. He's FAR outside of the ordinary, and you'd almost CERTAINLY never find his skeleton in the fossil record because such giants are rare in any species - but gigantism occurs in ALL vertebrates, albeit rarely, and there is no reason to think there wasn't significant size variation among sauropds OR that what skeletal material we have represents the biggest adults could even GET. At 188 cm I am taller than 94% of all men, but that still leaves 6% of men my height or a bit taller (over 99% are under 6'4" / 192 cm) - which is statistically UNLIKELY to find in the fossil record compared with the more LIKELY find of a 175 to 183cm male, but yet, here I am. My cousin is 2 metres tall - so he's taller than 99.9% of men on earth - and my second cousin is about the size of Shaq - taller than 99.999% of men, ever - but they EXIST. So too did 2.75 metre / nearly 9 foot tall Robert Pershing Wadlow, the tallest man to ever live. An African Bush elephant was found which weighed 11 tons, more than TWICE the typical male elephant's weight. We see it in dogs, cats, and all sorts of creatures. So, so long as we're not violating the square cubed law, and it wouldn't be, yet....it's actually very LIKELY to have happened here and there. Moreover, my own 30% mass difference over the 77kg average (non-obese) male isn't even that rare compared to gigantism - I'm just a fairly big guy, not a giant, and the sauropod equivalent SURELY existed. I just get so tired of this recent trend of going ultra-conservative with mass estimates for sauropods while simultaneously UPPING the mass of animals like T. rex pretty significantly: the largest rexes were once thought to weigh 5 to 7 tons, but now we're looking at individuals riding close to the 10 ton mark (Scotty) and speculation of potential for some individuals to have been 70% larger still (granted, that one not being founded on much of substance). We have for years routinely failed to account for things like cartilage between the bones, fat reserves, excess skin and so on. By the way, while ON the subject of mass, it's funny how sauropods get consistently scaled DOWN in mass, but the blue whale's mythical weights are never questioned. Let me ask you this: where DID those claims of a 210 ton blue whale COME from? How were those measurements taken? With what instrumentation? When? Where? By who? I've NEVER seen ANY unambiguous and CLEAR documentation. They're consistently said to be "90 to 110 feet long" but the fact of the matter is, in modern times with modern instruments, NOT ONE blue whale has EVER been measured reliably to be over 89 feet. Not one. The MASS of blue whales is often claimed t be 180 to 210 tons, yet when a fin whale - which isn't all that far off from a blue - washed ashore recently, it was said to be only 24 tons (granted, not a well-fed or fully grown individual). Who is putting these blue whales on scales? NOBODY. They're going by volumetric estimates based largely on sightings from ships - estimating a length, and from that, a mass. Think about HOW you'd go about weighing an animal that big. Japanese whaling ships might kill whales and chop them up, but they're hardly using calibrated scientific instruments to weigh the mass of the flesh, and I might add, it's common to misrepresent weights in that industry for various reasons. Where's the recent, peer reviewed study where they went out and caught blue whales, slapped them on a scale and weighed and measured them? Didn't happen. Find one. A RELIABLE, repeatable measurement. Not a claim. Fact is, blue whales have ALSO been reported to be anywhere from 70 to 130 tons on the lower end of things, which, you MAY have noticed, overlaps with some sauropod estimates. Look at a blue whale. REALLY look. They're kind of spindly, elongate, narrow-bodied things. The lower masses for them in that respect seem considerably more believable than an emaciated 60 ton Argentinosaurus. Yet without hesitation they are CONSTANTLY called "the biggest animal to ever live" - and yes, I AM saying that I would bet that there is overlap between the range of weights blue whales can fall under and the range of weights the largest members of the largest sauropod TAXA - especially individuals with gigantism - could achieve. Until I see consistent, reliable evidence using modern instrumentation of these mythical 150+ ton blue whales, I question it on the basis that the claims are never backed by rigorous study. At any rate, even the blue whale inarguably massively varies in mass between individuals of the same SPECIES - so once again, making assertations that so and so sauropod genus could only have been 75 tons "because air sacks" - and using emaciated builds that lack the musculature they'd need to realistically move around on land - is fraught with uncertainty. To be fair, it IS always safer to err toward the CONSERVATIVE side of estimates - but the thing about that is, the more we find of any given dinosaur taxon, the more we are forced to question long-held assumptions as to their maximum size - and frequently those assumptions are forced to go UP with time, not down.

Wow, thank you for your very educated and intelligent thoughts! I’m personally a little annoyed by the constant number of people upping theropod masses. I can’t tell you how many times someone leaves a comment to correct me in my reviews, claiming that such-and-such a favourite theropod was actually +x m/ ft more. Of course, one can conjure up any number of fantasy lengths based on ranges seen in extant living vertebrates. I have to take an average from credible sources. But I am also mindful that as much as sauropods are my favourite group, and titanosaurs my favourite subgroup, at such extremes of gigantism, there are real limitations that start to encroach themselves on any attempt at excesses that ignore physical constraints such as the strength of bone material, cross sectional area, and section modulus calculations and so on, when guesstimating a certain amount of possible mass. Of course complexities abound. For example, while we did not do loading tests in my university, I know of others where bone is subject to compression loads in a universal testing machine, and there _is_ a range of compression-fracture. Even then, that was obviously dry bone. Results don’t account for the supportive value of wet, soft tissue. Way before pneumatization was known, we had estimates of even Brachiosaurus at 75 tonnes. I think this high level of pneumatization in bone has contributed greatly toward the dialling down of weight estimates. There is no argument that they would have very effectively lightened the weight of what would otherwise be extremely energy-consuming weights to be lifted all day long, even considering the effectiveness of passive supports such as ligaments. Still as you say, there is a wide range of normalcy when it comes to lengths, and hence corresponding volumes and weight. That is why I mentioned that the PNSO Alamosaurus could justifiably be called 1:35 depending on what the collector wishes the live animal to be, and there are certainly a range of possibilities. While extremes certainly exist, the question is, how likely in the very few sparse remains we have can we be certain we had the biggest or the smallest, as you say. So of course, it is up to anyone whether known fragments represent an average, a median, or extreme. Blue whales are a different kettle of fish. The ‘buoyancy bonus’ does allow more crazy weights to go unchallenged, and is less likely to be questioned. Some of the lengths claimed for them, with fantasy weights calculated based on these mythical lengths, boggles the mind, even if you consider buoyancey of water. I’ve long given up on finding a definitive source, and yet because we have live animals we can see, it may actually work in favour of some fantasy. This is a really fascinating topic. Estimating body mass is a question that has researchers trying to suggest a methodology from time to time. For example, Campion and Evans 2020 paper. Specific to our discussion, I have been trying to get a hold of D’Emic’s 2023 paper (The evolution of maximum terrestrial body mass in sauropod dinosaurs), which might furnish more ideas. I seem to recall you telling me you are a palaeontologist? If so you may have access to this paper much more easily than I! By the way, mate, you have written quite a few really good and educational posts. Could I request your break up your message into paragraphs? Hulk. Great review. Shouldn't the teeth have different lengths? The metacarples are different lengths,so that is good. The eyes could be painted a little better. Less fish eye look, and more reptilian. Magnetic attachable nameplates would be better.

Thanks for your input, Jim. Sauropod teeth can be of different lengths, but the part that can be seen is what is beyond the lip line. So the emergent part could look pretty even, even though without the lips you would see different lengths. It doest make sense however, even if it's through wear, that the teeth are grown/ ground to about the same level for efficient cutting. The teeth however, perhaps could have a more 'cuspy' appearance and less flat. Attachable magnetic plates can be a little fiddly. I have had a few that either got lost, or even if I chose not to use them, would have the attaching surface so bare that it looked it had a bald spot. Agree with you about the eyes, though I've seen this kind of look in various reconstructions. That said we didn't specify the kind of look we wanted, and I'm sure if we'd thought of it we could have!

I definitely hope that Era Terra makes other 1:35 sauropods. Brachiosaurus, my original favourite sauropod for sure, but I also hope they look at the largest mammals as well. I would love a Paraceratherium or Palaeoloxodon.

Un pour moi il est discutable de savoir si l’argentinosaure ou patagotitan est le plus grand dinosaures car il pourrait . De plus il n’est pas adulte donc il aurait pu attendre d’après moi des taille de 33,5 - 37 m maximum cela est toujours possible. Donc sont échelle est de 1: 35 ou 1: 38 pour la plus grande estimation.

I guess we will never ever know unless we have more than one femur or even part of a femur in some cases. So a scale representation will not be 100% without contestatin. It is truly frustrating to me that these huge animals have such poor remains. I don't think we can make a definitive remark over which was bigger. The projections they try to do for both Argentinosaurus and Patagotitan are based on _one or two_ bones, and even then, those are still estimates based on estimates. Even then, dorsal centrum diameter differs by only _1cm_ . I find it ridiculous to make any such claims, frankly.

Puertasaurus is 50 tons, patogotitan is 55 and argentinosaurus is 80

They were monsters all to be sure! Argentinosaurus though is probably closer to the median of the range between 60-75 tonnes. 80tonnes is monstrous! 😅😅 Dr Wedel has stated that they were all probably very close to each other and hence the theoretical upper limit of size. Wouldn't it be amazing if we found decent remains of Argentino and Puerta... then Ademar could make all of them in 1:35!

@@DinosDragons ha yeah, I didn’t just get my size estimates from wikepedia btw, wikepedia claims argentinosaurus could reach 100 tons which is ridiculous. If you haven’t yet you should get the book called sauropod facts and figures by asier larremendi. It has amazing illustrations in every page and reasonably accurate size estimates for each if the largest sauropods.

Man this model is huge! Definitely too big for my room XD I love the details and colours! Making it out of fibreglass is also truly genius! Off topic but I recently found an independent artist's store that makes extinct animals (mostly mammals and birds) I haven't seen major companies tackle! (at good prices too) They have a Tarpan and Hipparion primigenium in their store which I'm happily saving up for! Always wanted a Tarpan! You should be able to find them by typing "Signatustudio animal replicas" into google... If you don't know about them already :P

@horse14t Thanks mate! I know about them. Not as detailed as a 3D printed model, but man there is something so special about a handsculpted model! Unfortunately, I can't afford them, especially having them shipped to Asia would be crazy 😪 Hopefully when the worst of this recession blows over. I was actually very interested in his Bharal and Megaloceros.
