*_After Afton had left Sir Handel behind that night, he looked back at the single coach that rattled in tow._* "I wonder. Do you think he learned his lesson?", he asked the old coach. *_But it offered no reply, except for the creaking and cracking it made as he sped down the line._* "Well, who knows?", continued Afton. "He's lucky, though. I know my penance will never end." *_As he rumbled down the line, he could see he was approaching Henry's Tunnel. Sitting in a siding was Thomas and Edward, both of whom were surprised to see an engine running at this time of night. Though they could not see that it was Afton, they knew that just by the sound of his whistle it was a sight they thought they'd never see again. And as he passed them by, a faint smile formed on his face._* "So then, ol' wandering coach. Where shall we go next?", he asked. *_And with a final few blows of his whistle, he and his coach rushed into Henry's Tunnel, vanishing into the darkness. Never to come out the other side._* *_Thomas and Edward both looked at each other and wondered if that really was Afton that they just saw going by. In the end, however, they decided not to speak up about it, pretending that they didn't see or hear anything._* *_But I think they knew the truth of what saw. Don't you?_*

Oh my gosh, that is a very mysterious story indeed. One of the former trial engines destroying a four wheeled coach and then while taking a midnight express (with the ghost coach between him and the other express coaches) and then vanished in the tunnel. That sounded creepy. It's surprising how Sir Handel encountered their spirits when Afton told him the entire story of his errors which kinda reminded me of the Jessie episode 'The Whining' where a hotel employee told the Ross family a ghost story and at the end, he went back into the shadows of his own story.

@scramtheman22492 жыл бұрын
I have a theory that the Ghost coach is secretly tormenting and torturing Afton whilst he is not in sight, (which could mean this has been going on for roughly 3 decades. Yikes.) because as Afton said: Coaches could punish an engine with a far more harsher method than simply death. Considering he said that, and the coach is attached to him no matter what, I can only presume this is true. I also think that Afton spirit wanders around the night to warn engines about the consequences of mistreatment of coaches so they don’t end up like him. (And since the coach has absolutely NO dialogue in this story, which takes place at night, we can only presume that her soul is asleep. (This is silly and retarded, I know, but it’s just a theory...) (A GAME THE- *Gets shot.*)

what ChatGPT thinks of this: The Wandering Coach by 22tesla: The reader, captivated by the story of the alleged coach and the mysterious engine, couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The events described seemed so surreal and unsettling. As the story progressed, they became more intrigued, eagerly awaiting the revelation of the truth behind the coach's alleged revenge. When Sir Handel, the smaller engine, expressed disbelief in the story, the reader found themselves caught between the character's skepticism and the Storyteller's conviction. The tension between the two escalated, making the atmosphere even more suspenseful. Then, the storyteller introduced himself as Afton, the same name mentioned in the story. This revelation sent a shiver down the reader's spine, as they realized the storyteller was directly involved in the events being recounted. It added a chilling layer to the tale, making the reader question the nature of the storyteller's intentions. As Afton spoke about the coach's ability to seek retribution and the concept of death not providing protection, the reader's imagination ran wild with possibilities. The notion that even the humblest of objects could harbor dark intentions left them with a lingering sense of unease. When the coach, Afton, suddenly creaked and announced its departure, the reader couldn't help but feel a mixture of relief and anticipation. The eerie presence of the coach had been felt throughout the story, and its departure brought a temporary respite from the unsettling atmosphere. Sir Handel's encounter with Gordon, the other engine, added another layer of intrigue to the story. Gordon's recognition of the name Afton and his revelation that the engine hadn't been seen on Sodor in over 50 years left the reader perplexed. How could Sir Handel have seen an engine who had been absent for so long? The mystery deepened, and the reader's curiosity intensified. As the story concluded, the reader found themselves contemplating the possibility that the events Sir Handel experienced were nothing more than illusions or figments of his imagination. The realization that the story might not have been real left them pondering the nature of perception and the power of storytelling. Overall, "The Wandering Coach" by 22tesla successfully captivated the reader's attention with its eerie atmosphere, mysterious characters, and unresolved enigma. It left them with a lingering sense of wonder and a desire to explore the hidden depths of the story further.

The coach came back as a vengeful spirit, blended in with the regular coaches so she'd be right behind Afton, then when the time was right, she slipped the coupling to let the regular coaches go. After all, the passengers weren't the ones she was after. When Afton went through the tunnel, the driver and fireman were spirited away to the station bench and put to sleep, she wasn't after them either. What happened next is open to speculation, but Afton eventually became a spirit himself, and the old coach refuses to let him go. He complained that she held him back, well now she'll never let him stop running the midnight train. When she creaked at him at the end of the story, it was a warning, "Get on, you, or else."

@22Tesla3 жыл бұрын
@@blazingswordsman5410 Since he didn't die, meaning his spirit never left his body, he's living in the world of the dead, yet he doesn't need things like sleep, coal, water to keep moving as he's forced to endlessly travel up and down the mainline. The only rest he gets is when the coach lets him stop to tell his cautionary tale to another engine who doesn't treat coaches with any respect based on their design.
