In Super Mario Galaxy 2, go to Melty Monster Galaxy and do chimps minigame, but don't actually do it. Go back into the pipe you came out of, and then a giant black orb is staring you in the face. That's the chimp minigame area!

@Evan Blenkinsopp As soon as you change the position of the coins, they're not the same coins from a level layout perspective. Changing the terrain keeps the coins the same. Not saying it's fair game though. Unless you do it through an ACE exploit rather than through modding, in which case anything goes.
