GREAT video! I am jumping to Amazon and spend some money😉. I already bought the EZ Flow, because of your recommendation and I have a good friend who installed it for me. I NEED that professional hose nozzle and a few of the other tools you showed us today. Thanks and stay safe with Milton🙏😍

I like to use jute fiber twine for mounting. It’s grippy and the roots seem to like it. The grippyness also seems to not let the orchid slide around too much on the mount which is cool. By the time the fiber degrades, the orchid is usually attached to the mount.

Another informative video Dave. At 23:06 I think that orchid is Tst. Melinda Marie "Blue Fairy". Goggle that and see if you think that is what it is. I have one that just finished blooming and has started a new growth. That big red vanda is outstandingly spectacular!

My daughter and son would have me put in the Nursing Home if I went on Amazon and ordered a hose like that. 😂 I have managed to break another Spray bottle. For the 4th time I ordered another one. I got a cooking oil spray bottle this time. Hope it last longer.

Well, its nice to see how different people grow our orchids. I think it must be a really nice to be able to grow the plants outside all year around. Alot of os tho, cant do that. Many live places that get really cold in winter. I grow indoor, in a room special furnished to grow in. Light, humidifire etc. Other in cold areas grow in greenhouses, but that is expensive ( need heat in winter). Most nacessary items needed for indoor growing is a RO system( some use tap water), TDS and PH meter. But overall interesting video. Oh forgot to say, living in The Netherlands 😊

For staking I have a few small bamboo bushes. I cut the thick branches, let them dry and use them. Lasts me 6-8 months. Then start over again.

Reduce plastic waste - you can recycle your zip ties. Simply squeeze your pliers on the outer edges of the tie to open its mouth, then pull out the tie end.

I love your videos. There's a lot of information to be had while watching them. I live in eastern Pennsylvania and my orchids are kept outside in an unheated GH for the summer. Now, sometime around Oct I'll bring them inside into a sunroom for over wintering. The problem I have is ants. Millions and millions of ants! They take up residence in the pots, hide out until the pot is brought inside, then launch an invasion! To say it's frustrating is an understatement. What do you recommend to eliminate the ant colonies in the pots prior to bringing them inside? I've tried a variety of options, but nothing seems to work. Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? Thanks....

That orchid with purple/white flower is a zygopetalum “zygo”. As far as keeping clay pots clean, it must be your growing area. I don’t have that problem as I grow outside but if I did I would not use clay pots

Hello Dave, What are your thoughts about getting water on blooms when watering? Thanks Fred
@DavesOrchidOasisАй бұрын
I'm not sure. I go back and forth on it. They get watered in nature. But it can cause Botrytis. I'm not that careful

Bamboo skewers are cheaper (100 for $10). Word to the wise: the more common the description for the same item - the cheaper the price.

I have a question that I hope I don’t get judged too harshly by…..but I thought orchids couldn’t be in direct sunlight…can you please let me know the proper light/sun exposure they should actually be getting??
@lethargicken74512 ай бұрын
Different orchids require different amounts of light. My pool lanai gives me about 50% par or light than direct sunlight. There are even phone apps that can give you a reading. I use “Light Meter” with a piece of paper. I hope this helps.
