great to see close up detail here! especially interesting to see where you have an expensize brought fitting (such as the track) and where you have made something. Really interesting that you have dead eyes on the mast head, the solid plastic looks like a good material there!

no brailing lines? did you try that and take it off? I think I wouldn't want to sail without them, even though I'd wouldn't mind having a few less lines to tangle!
@fjordproa6510
@fjordproa6510 Жыл бұрын
Hello, in the beginning I had brailing lines but I found out that I can lower the sail faster than using them. The brailing lins have now become my lazy jacks. Only an unadjustable loop from the mast top around the sail and lower spar. This makes it easier to take down the sail.

@@fjordproa6510 interesting! do you have a way to reef? do you drop the sail when caught aback (that's another thing I use brailing lines for)
@fjordproa6510
@fjordproa6510 Жыл бұрын
@@dominictarrsailingHello, yes I can reef. I can zipper 2.5 m² at the top of the sail. This changes the sail from 10 m² to 7 m². But I only need it at more than 5 Bft.

what is the material of those white things on top and bottom of the mast joints and inside the mast support (rope extention mechanism)?
@fjordproa6510
@fjordproa6510 10 ай бұрын
In German it is sold as Delrin or Pom. The actual plastic is Polyoxymethylene or Polyacetals.

I couldn't figure out what the white deck on the beams was made of. She's pretty fat. Maybe it's styrofoam, covered with fiberglass?

Hello, it's 10mm plywood. It's easier for me to make than fabric mesh and frame. Especially if you have to try out the shape first.

I don't know the metric system since I live in the USA. Your mast is 3.85 millimeters long which equals 12 Feet 7.57 Inches. If that's correct than the length of your boat is twice that length. About 25 feet long. Is this correct? It doesn't appear to be 25 feet long.

Hello, my Proa is 6 meters long = 6000 mm = 19.7 feet and the mast is 3.85 meters = 3850 mm = 12.6 feet But I like the metric system ;)

@@fjordproa6510 I'm going to learn the metric system. I've heard that it's a much easier and better method. Thanks. It would be great if you offered plans to build the hull and outrigger. I'd like to build one.

@@robertlaird6746 Hi, I won't make any plans for my proa. In the meantime, I would build the boat differently anyway. Especially with more ground clearance. I show this in my video #20. There I also refer to other construction plans. But I would always use my Rigg metode for these boats as well.

@@fjordproa6510 What would be the smallest proa that I could comfortably sail being a man that weighs 235 lb's? I used to race a Laser sail boat and other small boats as well as Tornado and Nacra catamarans. I'd like a small sailing boat to take with me on my Cyber 48 catamaran as I sail around the world.

@@robertlaird6746 I think the P5 of Othmar Karschulin see my Vodeo #20 and have a look at the channel "segelreto", I sailed together with Reto on it so no problem.
