Here’s a life saving tip: In biome 4 you can infinitely farm obolites. Aside from the pods, look for the thorned vines on the ground. Instead of walking through them, just hipfire them preferably with a high fire rate weapon. Once you cleared the room, teleport to the boss door room and do the same. Then teleport back and forth and repeat. Each time you teleport back the vines will be back and you can farm obolites as long as you want.

@@Loopedtime luckily when you beat the sky boss you go to biome 4 that he’s referencing and will respawn at that same biome there forward. I just got to it, beat bosses in biome 2 and 3 in the same run for the first time because of how good my power ups were. it’s really the luck of the die on what you pick up for how strong you are.

Also in combat always keep an eye on the curve indicator at your character that indicates were are the enemy. That help you know if and what type of attack is coming to you depending of the color.

One tip would be, you don’t have to fight everyone. If you’re trying to take down a particular boss for example, and you keep getting slammed on your way to that boss, such as in biome 3, then you can just run unless you come across a room that locks you in. Just use your map, know where the exit doors are, and run for your life. I used this method in biome 3 after I made it to the boss first try and then proceeded to have a few particularly brutal runs. I leveled up in the previous biomes, and just booked it to the boss in biome 3. Worked just fine.

@@bizmonkey007 if you have it unlocked and can get a gun with the ‘retarget’ perk on it, it works wonders for drones especially but also other groups of enemies. Just aim at the crowd and it will target for you.

The Hollowseeker is the bread and butter of this game (from my experience) especially if you get either the portal beam or turret; let it spawn and I'm already on the other side of the room with enemies being bombarded on both sides. Getting both portal arsenals is just God tier and even if you dont get those perks the range is absolutely ludicrous as it allows you more reaction time than most guns.

The most effective thing i have found is to level up the adrenalin eg at level 2 you can see the enemys though the walls which helps so much, the more adrenalin you have the easyer the game becomes.

@@karlwest437 I just tried it again and works every time, it’s can be different depending on whether you have positives or negatives against health regeneration, as long as you get to the ship you can max out your health - you have to leave the ship after each sleep but from a fresh game -after being hit on purpose in the first encounter - to heal a quarter of the full bar was 2 sleeps

I think the latest patch limits this to a one time only thing with minimal health recovery. After the first time, I didn't have the option to sleep again. I left the ship and reentered and the triangle icon never showed up again.

I do this as well, so I can use all the health pickups as Max Health upgrades instead. However, I’ve heard a lot of people saying this will be patched out soon. I hope not, but if so, you may want to get used to not having it!

A really good tip is clear the whole map and try not to pick up health drops until the end. When ur at max health your max health bar will increase every 3rd health drop u pick up, also if you want to get OP at first, finish level or get your proficiency up high and then open the chests so you can have a decent gun going into level 2

Man, I have probably 20 hours in so far, and I'm still stuck in the first biome. Whenever I get to Phrike with a good gun & traits, I do something so incredibly stupid and waste the run. It's equal parts frustrating and amazingly good.

My personal tip for people struggling with the third biome: Run. I’m not kidding. If you have a decent weapon and health when you enter this area, just run straight through as fast as possible. I did this after dying a few times and just wanted to hurry up and get as far as I could before I died and cut the game off, and I made it all the way to the boss and almost beat it but I went in with pretty low health and items because I didn’t expect to get that far. You get a decent gun right before the boss if yours isn’t that great. It worked for me..

Great tip for this game.. Be prepared to give up the rest of your life. Yes it's hard but absolutely brilliant.. They thought Demon's souls was a hard game. It's a walk in the park compared to Returnal

To me, electropylon driver is the best weapon in the game. It attaches to enemies, some can't move because the residual attack the rounds do, and you don't have to stay in the line of fire like the other weapons. But don't get the one with pylon web. They only give you 2 rounds, although each does shoot 5 at a time, but in this game their are too many enemies

It’s a lot like hollow knight just in 3D. I thought hollow knight was brilliant but flawed, but I’d rather play this. They both are unforgiving and difficult by design. This at least is more fun and not as tedious. Gameplay is super fast and the lack of any load times whatsoever definitely helps restarting cycles also

You can. There are some undogeables but for the most part the i-frames will protect you, & it's a far more viable strategy when it comes to those burst waves that can hit you twice if you try to dodge away.

Playing this and Metroid Dread simultaneously. The latter is less difficult, but the part where Samus needs to avoid E.M.M.Is is terribly annoying, to the point I left that game aside for now. Returnal, while being way harder, is much more fun and satisfactory to play. Playing it is like dancing - you'll mess up after being presented to new steps, but eventually will feel more comfortable with it (even with the failures that will still happen here and there).

Good tips. I really like how they've done the weapons in this, but something was nagging at me and I just noticed that it's the camera. It's entirely rigid, when I think a small amount of sway as you turn it could make things feel more fluid, especially with the organic nature of the game.

The Electropylon Driver is hands down the best gun, at lest for bosses. Stick em with a few hits and run away. Net Fire is especially useful. Only two rounds, but it shoots 5 Pylons at once. The first boss was kicking my ass badly, but with the EPD, I barely took damage.

There are two acts, Act 1 is biomes 1-3 and Act 2 is 4-6. If you die during Act 1 you go all the way back to your ship but if you die during Act 2 you start at biome 4 But I get what you mean about builds. It feels quite difficult to really build something as it feels like change

This should have been the first tip - you can sleep at your ship and it will replenish your health. Another good tip is to use the environment as cover and hit R3 when entering a new room to scan the the topographical layout. Also forgot to mention but your map in the righthand corner gives you the enemy/ies location and once the tone of the music dies down that means you have killed all the enemies in that arena/room/section of the map.

I just started playing returnal yesterday and I've died aloooooooot 😂 but I'm starting to get the grip of it now as I've played some hard games over the years and I'm not letting returnal beat me lol...... I love the balance of the game and the combat is ridiculously smooth and it kinda reminds me of an old game called space harrier... I'm learning the weapons and so far i hate the shotgun 🤮 the range is so short but damage is good and I'm yet to use the hollow seeker (hope i got the name right 🙏🏾)..... All in all I'm going to love this game ❤

Mild spoilers........ But I got to the “piano” boss twice now and I die at the same exact point where he only has a few hits left. It’s my fault of course. But the damn shop didn’t have an astronaut for sale this run and if I had that I would’ve beaten him no problem. It just aggravated me a lot and I had to step away from the game for awhile. The story is picking up pretty good too. I really like this game.

It's rage quit material. I've been playing for 24hrs (with breaks) i know the first level inside and out yet can not defeat the boss.... Here's why... The score, the graphics, the darkness, the fast pace, the movement everything is awesome! But the "chance" way of being high enough level to face the boss is literally time killing. It's like playing the card game solitare. If the cards are shuffled exactly right, you get a "chance" at winning. That "chance" is only if you make EVERY single right movement and chest opening etc... Which is like a 1/20 for chests on top of your 1/???? Chance that the game was "stacked" in your favour in the first place
