Tip for the Parasite Debuff "Suffer damage from high falls" If you dash before u get close to the ground it will prevent the fall damage.

In case anyone isn't aware yet, if you haven't obtained your melee lightsaber yet, you can alternatively disable them pesky enemies red shield by using the Alt. Fire Blast Shell on them

Do you mean Shield breaker? I don't think Blast Shell works when I use it on shields.

What I would say that the way the story unfolds organically as you discover and die is stunning I was unsure on this after 10 mins I absolutely love it its hard but can't stop

If you haven't played Hades then you should give it a try. It does a similar thing and the story is very satisfying.

I avoided watching anything when the game came out simply because i didnt own a ps5. I got it yesterday and ive been having a blast since i like Roguelite games. Also the first thing i did when i got to the first body that has the firearm was to check the helmet name. After i did all i said was "now this is going to be fun!!!" And fun it has been.

Yeah I’m still at that point where I feel like it’s too hard, the game too short and small padding out the run time with arbitrary difficulty over true gameplay. But I am completely new to the game, only done a handful of run throughs over 2-3 hours of play. I can totally see it having potential and hope I’ll find it soon

Dashing off cliffs that I cant see is by far the most frustrating thing about this game. But I feel this is deliberate part of the game. I think the game play is the story in a way because I feel like I am just being punished over and over again. Most of this game is highly unfair and unbeatable to a point.

Took me about 6-8 hours to understand the game enough to beat the first boss.. take it slow explore the whole map and grab every single drop.. try to stay in adrenaline as long as possible

Jeez I'm like 12 hours into this game and I still haven't been able to beat Phrike. I've gotten so close that the 3rd phase health bar was like the width of a hair, but I always get jipped.

Returnal is not so much rogue like as soul like, because your character Selene doesnt actually "permanently die," and the bosses are deliberately designed to be cheaty just to waste your time dying to them multiple times before you eventually beat them. Anyway its a great video, definitely deserves more than 19k views.

I bought this game at xmas last year.i played for a bit and i got destroyed so I put it on the shelf and moved on😂. I pulled it out again on a whim and I'm hooked now. I don't even care if i can't beat it, it's hell fun anyway. I almost beat the first boss yesterday and i started on medium health level. I will beat him for sure if I'm better prepared ❤

Thank you so much EB! Ive searched all over for a guide like this. I only recently got hold of a playstation 5 and heard great things about this game.I have now been going for 3 days and STILL on. the first level lol am I fustrated? hell yeh I want smash the pad lol but Returnal is one of my top 10 games EVER!! you just gotta remember that dying is a game mechanic in this game and each run youll improve your gaming without even realising. The fact you can die and loose everything adds that dread that you use to get with the old games before they became streamlined for ease! I remember feeling similar with the orignal Tomb Raider on the saturn ,you couldn't just save where you wanted you had to search for crystals to save which meant every jump/action had to be set up and timed which is similar in technique to Returnal. If you are still on the fence then you should get this.

Great guide! I've been playing for two days now (still to beat the first boss) and this really helped clear some things up. Do you know if Parasites that say detach after.... still give you the negative effect after they detached? Also, I haven't tested this but I'm pretty sure that if you dash after a long fall just before you hit the ground you won't take damage if you have the take damage on falls effect.

From the side by side of the Adrenaline Melee upgrade, it looks to me like the timer doesn't change too much, but the sword looks longer and thicker (that's what she said) so maybe that is what the enhancement is?

What do you guys do on a "no gun" run? Currently about 7 out of 10 of my runs i get no weapons as upgrade in chests. Like my current run im at weapon profiency 13 in world 3, but still have my lvl1 start wespon while exploring a lot. All chest just contain on use items

There's a late game permanent upgrade that you can get in I think biome 5 that negates damage taken on those floors

Enhanced melee is a melee dmg and I believe stagger dmg boost to it as well.

Hi all. Need your help. I have full health plus 2 silphium resins. When my health goes down, which ps5 button will allow me to use those resins to bring my health back up. Couldn't figure it out. Been dieing with 2 resins unused.

Consumables I think are default to like L1 if your controls are standard still

If you have not figured this out the resins only go towards increasing your max hp (when you get three pieces of resin). You can pick up regular silphium which gives you health back or you can get a consumable called silphium vial or something like that, which you can use with L1 and get a chunk of health back when you choose to use it
