Having a little garden on board must be heaven sent! Next time Frik is walking around in his birthday suit, it would be hilarious if you place a fig leaf over his naughty bits, and a little devil on his shoulder just for fun. Cheers from Winnipeg.

Nice growing setup there. my mother loved cooking with Basil and Margoram, and always has a nice herb garden. Thinking about it, you could always make a nice fertiliser from Seaweed, put loads of it into a netting bag, and hang it up to wash all of the Salt out, then let it dry and powder it, could even do a foliar feed as well, as seaweed contains a bit of pretty much everything a plant needs, and what I used to do with hydroponic growing was feed with a balanced NPK feed, alternating with Seaweed feeds, and fuits, vegetables, etc, etc, always did well. if there's a freshwater stream or river on an Island, you can always peg net bags of Seaweed in them to flush the salt Out, and they can dry out really fast which makes them easy to powder. Same with seashells from the beach, wash the salt off, crush them, and add to the compost or whatever growing medium. I mostly used Straw Bale Hydroponics, and heritage seeds to grow with, to avoid having to buy Hybrid stuff which generally lack flavour. plus you get your own seeds to go on with. To me, so called "Organic Growing" is a Scam that totally misses the point, that was brought in after the whole Self Sufficiency nonsense blew up in everyones face. All my Smallholding Self Sufficiency Neighbours ended up losing everything, and tbh, it was painful to watch happening. You Can't feed the World with Organic Growing, or Serfdom growing practices either. Anyway soap box grumbling session over. I've only just caught up with this episode, as it's been bloody freezing here, so the Arthritis has really kicked in. So best wishes, Fair Winds, and Safe Travels. Bob in Wales. 🤔👍✨️✨️✨️⛵️❤️

I found that a dyneema cover stitched over the region where your halyard goes near pulleys and through the mast helps with chafe
@SailingSisu Жыл бұрын
Dyneema sleeves do work. The catch is to identify the chafe points.

In today's world there should never be "unexpected" storms. That's what radar is for.
@SailingSisu Жыл бұрын
Oh, but 24nm is the range of our radar...not much! And then some storms develop right in front of you, very typical of local Thunderstorms, really. In the last five years/32,000nm, we experienced a couple of real bad ones while watching radar and six different weather models, and still the TS was unpredicted. But the real question is, did you miss the "quotes" 🤔 because in the video we do mention that we are in hurricane season in hurricane zone and we did see the storm coming with our own eyes... 😁

Terrific storm video. Best garden on the seven seas. Spanish Wells is great. What do they say? 20,000 spiny lobster pots, not a single float to tangle your prop or rudders. They do it all by GPS and diving. I don't mind the $2/Gigabyte for Starlink. What I do mind is all the mysterious nonsense my iPhone and sites do that suck up data that you don't know about until it costs you $150 extra. Starlink when I got back to California charged me $150 for the Roaming Plan, okay. But then an extra $25/month for Roaming. Did that for four months. In the middle of that I complained (under a different category because nothing like that was on the list) Then "Oops. You're right we're sorry. Here's your $25 back." What about the rest? I guess someone has to pay for Twitter.

We should perhaps make a technical video on how to minimize data on phones and laptops :-D but what we did was, we subscribed to Starlink Mobile - Regional and only when we know we will be offshore and needs weather info, then we will enable "Mobile Priority". And when we enable Mobile Priority, we will only download weather. No Facebook, no KZbin. We will do WhatsApp with family and friends, but nothing that would involve downloading pictures or video. And we do monitor the data usage to ensure that something is not eating data behind the scenes :-)
