I live in America. South west Georgia. I use to read about " treks" around England. Don't remember the name of the business. But you chose which " walking" route you wanted. You walked so many miles in the fields or forest. Spent a night in an inn. Next day walk the next legs etc. A van would carry baggage to the next over night stop. I use to dream of experiencing that. I was born in Thetford, Norfolk. My mother, born and raised in England. Father was in the 8th Air Force, being a radio repair for B-17s, P-51s and P-47s. I watch a lot of u-tube videos of landscape photography. Envying the freedom you have in England. Here in the U.S. much of the beautiful land are " posted"...A sign that means " stay out". Here in my area. I can walk in some woods. Mostly pine trees. But the wild life can end and real relaxed walks. Rattle snakes, Copper head and cotton mouth can be encounter. Add the excitement of alligators around ponds and lakes. Some areas there are bears. Recent sitings have announced the return of a big cat. In Florida they have issues with very large Boas and some Anaconda. Imagine the excitement of setting up for a shot and discover danger near by.

Thanks for another great video Patrick. Superbly filmed and edited as always. Very interesting history of Whitecroft as well. I was amused by the way the locals just wander around in the road! 👍👍👍

Hi Patrick, thanks very much for the shout out for my upcoming 65th birthday, it's very much appreciated. Yet another cracking walk, there's certainly some gorgeous villages to be found down there, great shot of the Muntjac deer as you say they're normally pretty skittish and run away as soon as they spot someone. Cheers again, Steve.

Super walk Patrick - the woods and forest were looking very fine indeed. Ha, good to see the App out - our conversation springs to mind. Yes, a good tool. The deer don't need any such thing though - that was a good sighting. And so still for you. I loved the sound of the steam train and to see it later was really cool - or maybe not that one. As I said the other day I must walk in the forest and will do when I can make it. Thanks for the share - a full happy view with a coffee. All the best. Mark

Hey Mark, yeah this was another good walk in the woods and forest. The app serves its purpose for me when I'm out filming, so good stuff. That deer was amazing to see, no care in the world whilst I took its picture. It was great too to have seen that steam train, the diesel one not quite so interesting of course. Hope you do get to the forest Mark, loads of great walks. Glad you enjoyed this with a good brew, nice one Mark. All the best to you 👍

Whitecroft looks an interesting place with the Dean Forest Railway located there, Patrick. It was good that later you captured a couple of the preserved trains used on the line. At Yorkley it was amazing to see the sheep all resting against that wall, no doubt they would be very tame, I should think. A walk through the woods, and then that most spectacular view of the River Severn was brilliant. Pillowell appears to be another quiet spot on your route, too. A beautiful area Patrick, without a doubt. A most enjoyable video to watch, with the good weather you had, also. Many thanks.

What beautiful colours in the wooded areas. It's so nice to see Britain in bloom. Some lovely villages there that look quite and peaceful. I'm sure many think of retiring around the area. How cool was the deer shot. It wasn't fazed at all and just carrying on with it's lunch. They are really nice to see but dreadfully elusive. The train tooting scared me lol. You did well to catch footage of two steam engines. The second one had the old style carriages where you opened the doors yourself to get off. I'm looking forward to your telling us all about the pub 😊 Thanks as always Patrick, it was a very beautiful walk.
@solitaryrambler2 ай бұрын
Thanks Kelly, glad you enjoyed the walk. It's sure a place in which I wouldn't mind retiring. I couldn't believe I managed to get that shot of the deer 😀 All the years I've visited the Forest of Dean, I've rarely seen one, let along photograph one, so that was a real bonus. I ws also lucky with those engines. I actually had a ride on one after the walk, which will be seen next time. The pub in which I stayed was wonderful, and in a village very important in my family history, so that will be shown in a few weeks 👍

How lovely joining you on your scenic trails of the Forest of Dean/Whitley walk. One of the nicest. How nice that deer popping up. I also found it interesting using OS maps. I've only recorded our walks as activities. Never sure how to use an existing route, whether downloaded or not. What a nice ambient arrangement for your music with piano rifts.

Thanks Shanita. The music was created off the cuff whilst I was editing this, but glad you like it. I couldn't believe how lucky I was with that deer. I find the OS maps app great, so I wouldn't be without it now when out filming a walk. Thanks Shanita for watching and commenting 👍
