Once I saw that Armada of Starfleet ships. I knew Trekyards would have a ball with it! I also noticed this is the same takeover that happened on Picard, except when the Borg took over and all the Starfleet ships glowed green.

Red Historically in Animation means "evil"/"bad" and they made it all red simply as a visual cue to let the kids know the ships are now evil. Because at the end of the day this is a kids show.

There is even a argument to be made that what we see in ST content is always meant to be a representation of the "real events", not "historical footage". Think about it, noone would try to explain in-universe why there are reflections of the camera crew visible in episode xy ... or why Saavik looks drastically different ... a lot of inconsistencies can explained by this

You know, now that I think about It, maybe the reason the ships aren't going all out to destroy each other is bacause they need to make sure to call as much help from other starfleet vessels, if the ships are completely destroyed they can't send the distress calls, so they are causing just as much damage they can without making the ships unable to call for help, the aim of the virus is to spread completely though federation space before completely destroying It.

The living construct appears to control each ship one at a time and keeps switching between them, that would explain why it was taking so long as it would fire once, switch ships and fire again. As for the lack of torpedo's that would easily be explained by the crew manually locking the tube hatches, or simply removing the torpedos from the launcher bay as soon as they realized they were being taken over.

The slow fire rate I'd assume is to give each ship the time to trigger the SOS to bring more ships to the slaughter

It would explain why in Picard Season 1 Starfleet needed to build new kind of class of ships to restore it's numbers. So they mothballed old TOS ships, cut them on pieces in shipyards and build Inquiry-class ships.

My headcanon is that the plasma mix and deflectors changed colour because they’re now using the Vau Na’kat standards because of The Living Construct. It’s not a perfect idea but sort of explains it.

A situation like this where a computer virus causes the ships to turn against one another really does beg the question: what do the all the crews do? It's always struck me that in a world with fantastical AI and technology such as transporters and replicators, that ships could be almost 100% automated pretty easily... and so the fact that we see crew doing stuff to operate and maintain the ships tells me that at the very least, they like to keep their skills in practice IN CASE they can't trust automation. Obviously not to the extent of Battlestar Galactica where computers aren't even networked, but still - it seem like there should be all sorts of manual bypasses available. Like, literally pull a giant switch or something that cuts power to the phasers.

About sizes, STO seems to use 210m. I’m wondering because this will have some relevance to the Centaur in the upcoming Resurgence game.
@adamlytle26152 жыл бұрын
On the one hand, the model does not feature the Miranda class bridge module from the original kitbash so one might conclude that the saucer is a standard Excelsior class saucer. On the OTHER hand, I would argue that the Miranda torpedo module is an equally valid indicator of scale... unless we assume those torpedo tubes are just ridiculously big.
@Optimusx12 жыл бұрын
If you look at the model from Star Trek Resurgence, that torpedo module is replaced with a secondary hull and deflector. Which makes me think of the torpedo pod part as more of a secondary hull than a weapons module.
@adamlytle26152 жыл бұрын
@@Optimusx1 yah i think even if it's a standard Miranda torpedo module, I don't think it's unreasonable to surmise that they may have modified it to house at least part of engineering. In my mind the bottom of the warp core extends into the module, but the upper half is in the saucer.
@Optimusx12 жыл бұрын
It’s all about what is scaled to what…. is it a standard Excelsior saucer or a standard Miranda weapons pod? I rewatched the DS9 episode where the Centaur appears, and it definitely looks 210m as stated in the official starships collection. I’m feeling Prodigy has scaled up according to the DS9TM. I looked at screenshots from the resurgence game, and the MSDs in the background appear to show only 5 or 6 decks. This is starting to bug me the way the Bird of Prey used to 10-20 years ago!

I think the slow weapons damage was because if the first group of ships annihilated each other as fast as they could then more ships wouldn't have been able to be affected by construct and also destroyed. The point was to destroy as much of Starfleet as possible and it needed to attract the rest of the fleet to come to the battle with automated distress beacons
@grantalbrecht45772 жыл бұрын
Make the crews suffer sure, but also prolong the battle so the ships distress call can reach more ships and more ships come in and get effected.

To be fair, the idea was to cripple Starfleet, not carry out a genocide. These were angry people who had seen their world torn apart, not mustache twirling psychos. My take was that they wanted the ships to tear themselves apart but still allow themselves some moral high ground by giving crews time to evacuate.
