Lots to see in this video, water tank upgrades, a raised bed, living room renovation and roof grinding. All good stuff! How I transferred my £ into € to buy my house: bit.ly/3YZvHfV

Great job for your first slab. Next time mound the rubble up in the middle but no rubble at the sides, so the slab is thick at its edges. Use bits of rubble under strands of the mesh to Elevate the mesh above the rubble so the concrete flows under the mesh, then the reinforcing effect is maximised. In this case neither of these bits of advice are crucial as it is a low stress specification for the concrete slab.
@michaelboalchАй бұрын
Thanks Peter, in the last video (I'm not sure if I actually showed it!) when I poured the concrete I attached the mesh to larger bits of rubble to elevate it and keep it flat as it was a bit bent, I'm still learning!

Andy from The Real Argave had a few issues with his flat roof and had various fixes including a roll on sealant of sorts. There were other issues that created a leak into the room below including a small aperture on the side of the building where rain water run off from the roof entered the ceiling and once sealed it sorted that particular issue. You Cld feasibly chat with Andy abt what he used.

Yes, I've had a look at his videos. I'll be sure to check them again to make sure I don't overlook anything!

You are going to be getting loads of advice on the no dig method lol, just thinking that you are going about it pretty much like I used to. I haven't been gardening for a while now and I really miss it, I still have to try the no dig myself, but everyone seems to be doing it.😂👍

Yes probably, seems all the rage!

Play box potential for her lol. The net mesh you covered over might help till the plants are big enough, but if there are cats around it won't stop them trying the new litter box. 👍
@michaelboalchАй бұрын
Yes, we used a bit of fence and threatened her with the hose if she went on it. Seemed to work for now

Plunge pool looks great! But that is not really a raised vegetable bed, it's just a bed 😄 I would have made the wooden frames higher. But not bad for a start

I just went back and watched your first two videos, wow how things have changed. You might have to try keeping Mila out lol, not building 'coyote rollers' to keep her from getting out. So much has been done, I loved seeing the drone shot right at the beginning, would be interesting to see how different it looks now.❤
@michaelboalchАй бұрын
My drone is broken at the moment, I've been meaning to get it fixed. Soon hopefully. The garden is fully fenced now, so thankfully there haven't been any escapes recently!

Michael I see Mila looked disgruntled and walked away because you didn’t let her put her PAW PRINT and date on slab 😁. Is 27c here today 🥵 wish I had a plunge pool 😂, agree get those veggies in asap and your get something out of it , all a learning curve Michael , Mila was thinking “ What me DIG “? No way I just sleep and watch 👍🏻. The room looked great , nice colours too , shame the roof cracked but yes probably too hot 🥵 when laid , all coming on though 👌🏻, catch ya next time. 😊

Your plunge pool looks ever so inviting on a hot day, fab you guys made it a priority, a great addition to your property. I agree with @kevinnye5132 that the vegetables will be a welcome return on the work you both put into creating them 👏🏼. Together with beautiful Summer flowers & plants. Yes, the flat roof not meeting expectations is unfortunate but it is fixable and you’re on your way to doing that, those sunrises/sunsets from there will be worth the effort. Are Verity and yourself trying out making at home the regional cuisine, if so, what have you accomplished and what do both of you like? Thank you for the dedication both 🙏🏻
@michaelboalchАй бұрын
Yes its great of hot days! Not much to see in our veg patch at the moment, but hopefully soon. Pastel de nata are my favourite, I had stuffed goat intestine further south, I wouldn't recommend that...
@peoplewatchingpeople684Ай бұрын
@@michaelboalch Aha, Pastel de Nata is one of my favourites too, not tried the goats intestine myself 😂, I once had a snail and that was enough for me to never eat one again. I now eat with my eyes first, if it doesn’t look appetising it’s not passing my lips. Enjoy your week Michael & Verity (such a pretty name), look forward to the next episode 🙏🏻

You have 10,000 bricks sitting around. Why don't you use up those bricks to make raised beds?
@michaelboalchАй бұрын
Haha, yes good question! Most of the bricks are easily damaged and I don't want to introduce any more building waste to the land. They are also heavier than a plank of wood!

Hi Michael I've just found your channel and I have the same type plunge pool, probably half the size of yours. I have problems keeping the algae away and wonder if your system would work for me. Could you provide links to the pump and filter you used please ?That would send me in the right direction. many thanks for the great content.
@michaelboalch25 күн бұрын
Hi Rosie, the pump is the Steinbach 40921 and we have a Bestway above ground filter and regular pool hoses. I hope that helps! Thank you
