Well done video. These people at Slabcity are just unique individuals who are trying to survive somewhere that they are freer to be themselves, and do as they please. There's danger, and crime everywhere that you go to anymore. Not everyone can do what they're doing there...... living. AND if people everywhere actually knew how many dead bodies are in the water across our world that no one's aware of, we wouldn't be wanting to step foot or get into the water everywhere we go to. Nice to see a family trying to understand the people at Slabcity, rather then being discourteous of them.

@pewpewTN2 жыл бұрын
@@johnziggykelleher4871 I've never been there, but I've heard the horror stories from former residents. From burning down houses, to tweakers stealing everything they can, to violence. It would be foolish to take any one video as evidence of saftey.

Skip it. I have helped with 3 rescues so far. There are no services. No water, no power, no food no sewer. People show up broke with ideas of living free, and go downhill from there. It's very expensive to run a generator for a/c. Hauling water requires a truck and gas. Expensive. You have to drive for food, also expensive. Living free is not free. Don't go unless you can support yourself. If you have money, someone will try to get that money. Take a gun. The meth heads will destroy your water tote to steal water. Anything left unguarded will be stolen. The only way to survive there is to make the right friends fast.

Nah bud, its legit lawless. As in, if anyone who may be unfortunate enough to be around to witness a crime and call it in(if victims cant themselves), then they have to hope they have reception to call a remote police station. And if thats even possible, then you have to hope they can get to you in a timely manner and hopefully find you wherever you are, or where the incident may have happened and thats very unlikely they will attempt it to look debating the situation. And say they find where it happened or the evidence of a victim theres 99%chance one or both parties wont be there because of the time gap and size of the desert. Kill or be killed

Knee deep in trash and dried human waste. Do you know what a "burn out" is? If a meth head or crazy doesn't like you, they set fire to your camp. 12 to 15 people die there per year. Most from exposure. Only 150 people live there full time. That's a 10% death rate. Sound healthy to you? Watch some of the more factual videos. No trash pickup, no sewer. The trash and human waste from every visitor is still there. It's everywhere. Except for a small enclave of RVers in the winter, the majority of the squatters are mentally ill, or drug addicts. You'll find a used syringe every 10 feet if you take a walk. I talked to the volunteers that hand out free syringes 3 days a week. They had a 30 gallon bio hazard drum filled with syringes they cleaned up in 1 day. Didn't even make a dent. Slab City is hell on Earth, and it's hard to escape once your money is gone.

I agree with my fellow slabbers, "lawless" and "Slab City" is just click bait and tourists coming here thinking they can do whatever they want with no consequences, like y'all entering where it clearly stated not to, well, stuff like that, willfully crossing boundaries can get people hurt, and yes, even murdered. And yes, there have been murders here, but also accidental deaths, overdoses, suicides, medical/natural causes. Life us a terminal condition. Any place that has existed long enough there will eventually be similar experiences, but an 80 year old apartment building isn't nearly as sensationalized. I'm glad you had a great experience here, and your editing was on point. I was ready to be p!$$ed at you for the title, still don't like that click bait b.s. but you showed, for the most part the genuine Slab City. (But seriously, don't cross boundaries)

I totally get it William! I had a less click baity title and thumbnail at first but no one was watching! People, unfortunately, only click on sensational. Dang, anyone who goes thinking they can get away with crossing boundaries is just.. an idiot. Thanks for watching and understanding! All the best my friend.

So what steps would you suggest and what are the accepted rules of conduct for someone who might choose to move there? If it's less inhabited in the Summer, do people who will be returning mark off their area as taken?

@@abandonedstuff4930 There is always space for another, even during the annual February rave when we can swell to 5,000 people, there is always pace. Might not have much shade from trees or bushes, need to be mindful of where it floods out, maybe not from the rain that falls directly overhead but what rushes down from Coachella Mountains. I've heard slabbers say it is the island of misfit toys where all the toys fit in. Seriously, how often do you see someone walking around in a full panda suit? How often do you see three or four people riding on the outside of the car? How often do you see a dozen strangers (we aren't strangers for long) bathing and soaking in a hot spring and it's not weird. And if someone acts like a pervert at the hot spring everyone rallies to protect such healing spaces. Babylon (anyplace outside of Slab City) has trained us to see nakedness equate to sexual energy, which in reality nakedness isn't inherently sexual. Pull Slab City up on Google maps and see all the miles upon miles of empty space. (Google maps doesn't show all the spaces that are currently occupied, but there is still plenty of space.

This is the first time I've ever decided to view something odd and I'm glad. It's a great place. People love feeling limitless and Slab City looks like the perfect area. Thanks for sharing this video.

Why is there no water? Didn't they have to drill wells while it was a military base?? Same thing with waste, aren't there septic systems? I mean what did the military base do for toilets and water?
@LyfeUntethered2 жыл бұрын
Great question! And I have no answers… but I can guess that the military took everything that would have allowed the infrastructure to keep functioning.

Unfortunately, in this day and age, almost most cities in America are pretty much lawless. At least in some areas.
@LyfeUntethered2 жыл бұрын
There is a lot of that lately for sure. Did you see the video of the guys ripping off the Apple store in broad dayight in front of like 25 customers and employess who did absolutely nothing?
