As a Medanese myself, lontong Warintek is too sweet for me. Btw when you're still in Medan, you should visit RM Sipirok, RM Marikena, and Ondo Grill, those restaurant serves authentic North Sumatra foods. Also Tau Kua Heci Sunggal, mie Tiong Sim, chasio Asan, Papa Kerang, and es campur Nana for some Medanese dessert.

Hi Max, just a little tip. If you see you many whole chilies in a soup dish, that means they are optional, you don't have to eat them at all let alone all of them. They are there to give minimum base spice level, like infusing the soup with its flavor, and chili lovers are welcome to eat more of them as their own level permit. For example if I want the the soup spicier by just a little bit, I will break the chile in half, crush only half of it and mix it with the whole dish. Rinse and repeat :)

That place (Mie Sop Methodist) is at Hang Tuah Street, Medan Polonia. One of the students favorite place because I study at Methodist High School 29 years ago (1995 - 1998) near that place. When I'm as a student of that school the Mie Sop price is 10K (IDR).
