How did it gp? Did you go to Coliseum? I will go to Rome with a mobility chair … how was the process of getting the tickets
@abievans11 ай бұрын
@@manuelAAU620 Getting tickets at the Colosseum is really easy. You will see a really long queue for the colosseum, ignore it and go straight to the ticket office. Here you can by a discounted ticket for yourself and I believe they gave me a carer ticket free of charge as well. You can then go to the front of the long queue and go straight in. Hope that helps

Thank you so much. I am in Rom right now and really knew what I got into. Tricky fact: even if there are elevators in Hotels or venues that does not make them accessible. Most places have rectangular small elevator that don t fit a wheelchair. I can walk and move around, I used the wheelchair half folded in the elevator. And they have a lot of metal ramps that are steep and sliding - but people help a lot (I am alone). Tomorrow it will be the old city…..😂

Thank you for leaving a lovely comment. The elevator thing is so annoying! I can’t stand at all and so have to hope that I can squeeze in as my chair doesn’t fold either. Wheelie girl struggles!! And you are on you’re own? Props to that solo travel in a chair can be very challenging. Enjoy the beautiful city of rome x

Hi. First of all, thank you very much for your video and recommendations. Extremely useful. Secondly, I am on my way to Rome with my mother who is 96 years old. Wondering where you’ve got the three wheel wheelchair from ? Where can we rent it from? I have tried several Italian websites with no much luck so far. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I hope you enjoy Rome. Unfortunately, the wheelchair I have is my own (I bought in it the UK) and you can’t rent it. You may be able to find mobility scooter rental places though. Wish I could help more. Enjoy your trip!!!

Hi Abi thank you for the resource. I am a wheelchair user traveling to Rome in a couple of months. Question about Colosseum tickets, did you need to reserve in advance or were you able to get tickets the day you visited?
@abievans7 ай бұрын
I didn’t reserve tickets in advance, just went to desk and they gave me ticket and a carer ticket but maybe email. You skip the big Q too!

Hey Abbi, great video… I’m doing a port stop in la spezia in 2024, was hoping to do Pisa and Florence but the tour is 9 hours long! 🤦🏼♀️ I’m hoping to still just do Pisa but accessible toilets are few and far between what I’ve seen… also to get into the sites free did you have to take “proof” of your disability? What I’ve read is they want to see my disabled disabled card, I’ve never had such a thing 🤷🏼♀️
@katharinamonch42232 жыл бұрын
Yes, you need a card. That is usually something of your homecountry. On the page of the vatican museums you will find information. There they say only people with 74% will get free access, but Ihave a German disability-card with 60% and G (gehbehindert/walking impaired) and did not have to pay. I guess the worst thing that can happen is that you will have to pay. With a wheelchair you are waved through to the reception. If you have trouble walking don t try walking in the museums: I drove 6+ km only inside! And I only went to the Raffael rooms and sixtine chapel….. 🙏

We have only two hours in Rome airport and transfer to another plane. We are worried about getting scooter from plane and making it to second plane within two hour framework. Can you manage it all within two hours? We're in our 70's so we need to add time sadly! 😟
@abievans5 ай бұрын
Hi, I think if you have all your info for the scooter prepared like battery size and dimensions you should be good. Also make sure you request assistance through your airline and that will help fast track you through the airport to your next plane. Enjoy!!!

Thank you for sharing. Is there a place to rental electric scooters ?
@abievans2 жыл бұрын
Hi, you can rent the one off the street through apps like Dott and Lime (and they are left everywhere so you will never struggle to get one.) all you have to do is if you see one, download the app for the company it belongs to, sign up and scan the QR code on it and you are off.
