If I could go back in time, I'd show this car to Jochen Rindt and see how he drives it. But I think he'd shy away, thinking it was an alien space car from another galaxy! Still, I would love to see him do a few laps in it. He won the GP of Monaco with an obsolete car! The Lotus 72 should have been ready when he showed up at Monaco but Chapman was forced to use a super modified 49 and NOBODY thought Rindt had even the slightest chance of coming in second. But he drove the wheels off the car and took Black Jack Brabham by surprise, pulling off what must have been one of the biggest upsets in the race's history.

+EVOLICIOUS That was genius! I love it & could get used to it. I also love the paddle shift gearbox system too. The prototypes have been using it for a while, but since the GT cars have had it installed, it's a lot easier on these competitors. Of course, paddle shift does come with its own fair share of problems too, but concentration is not one of them since there's no more gear shift handle to look for while looking straight ahead.

+EVOLICIOUS I didn't care for the camera system at first, but at 9:00 I fully came to appreciate the merit.
@joaoa13portugal8 жыл бұрын
+EVOLICIOUS Amazing? The only thing left is for that software to help him steer perfectly in corners and tell him when to throttle and brake, like a virtual racing line It's pathetic I understand that it's a safety measure like a radar, to tell the driver what's going on behind and on his sides, but im pretty sure many records have been established and many races won and many MANY great drivers formed without any single help of that sort. It's utterly pathetic. And as an software engineer i do value the amount of work that goes into all of that, specially the part of recognizing a car and marking it with an arrow. But as a huge racing fan, this kills the sport itself.
@sqlevolicious8 жыл бұрын
João Agnelo Sorry, I misunderstood. Your point (apart from your complete lack of knowledge on the tech these cars have) is essentially that in the earlier days, without the assistance tech, made better drivers with a higher difficulty. I strongly disagree and you should reconsider the difficulty of driving at night in a much more demanding and powerful car than the GT series has ever had. Even with the tech today, these cars are still raw in input and much higher in difficulty than ever before. I suggest you refrain on commenting on things you lack any knowledge of, I makes you look like a complete idiot. Especially when you think being a software engineer has any value to the topic. LOL!
@sqlevolicious8 жыл бұрын
João Agnelo LMAO! I can understand you are having a hard time trying to win an argument you lost the second you decided to comment about something you have no idea about. Next time, ask a question instead of making a statement, you will appear as a moron otherwise. I would certainly love to tell you about ICD tech in the GT3 cars, I'm very involved and well informed in this sport (unlike you), but hey, why not have someone give you a visual tour of why you are a complete moron trying to compared apples to oranges. (/watch?v=kGAHwzz_RgA), (/watch?v=mqAidRjWsyg) the racing channel goes into a lot of detail with the tech in some of their videos, (/watch?v=XGiBwgdR9qk), Also here is some info on the Porsche 991 gt3 ICD (similar to most gt3 setups) cosworth.com/about/case-studies/porsche-991-supercup/.

I even love the fact it identifies cars which are coming up fast - note the yellow arrow on cars in the same class or below, but the red arrow on prototypes coming up behind. There's been some scary crashes at Le Mans in recent years where GT cars just didn't spot a prototype coming up behind them, so this kinda tech is very useful.

William Scott That would get too far away from stock cars. Today's stock car racing is already far advanced than the average production car. Rear view cams would only alienate the blue-collar fan base more as rear view cams are somewhat of a luxury. I think this technology is awesome in this racing series as this series boasts advanced technology. But, it might be a bit much for NASCAR. We're as far from true stock cars (for safety and competition reasons) as we can get; let's not push it.

@mikhailman10 жыл бұрын
TonyR03 IMHO i think its due to a max torque around 5500-6000RPM. at those speeds on 6th gear there really is no point stressing the engine further. But what do i know... Maybe its just practice and the car is not set up correctly atm.
@TonysRacing60010 жыл бұрын
ghosthunter2006 Ok, this is a point I didn't think of, I mean it's a 24 h race, the engine should not be overly stressed if it was not useful. I also thought of slipstream and wind from behind but since there were only 1 or 2 shifting lights on in 6 th gear I thought even that wouldn't be enough to reach the limiter. Maybe the lesser fuel usage is also a fact which makes it reasonable to spare some RPM.

Just freaking awesome. Loved watching the new C7R just ran past Porches and Ferrari's. Anyone know where the C7R's finished?
@rtread9510 жыл бұрын
sadly the cars had gearbox overheating issues and finished fifth, its to be expected with new cars, they will fix the issues and be ready for Sebring.

I'm sure there were some jaws dropping however for a completely new car, to do THAT well right out of the gate.

Thank you for uploading this. It's always been my dream to be in the cockpit or even behind the wheel of a car like this and you've made that possible.

This car sounds GREAT!!! I wanna know who are the 21 people who gave a thumbs down? If you have a problem with this corvette...you've got a problem with yourself!! LOL!

I like how with the rear view camera it has an arrow pointing out the cars either coming up on the C7.R or that they just pasted with what looks like a Corvette crest that's beem slightly bent to look more like an arrow pointing down at the cars. It looks like the arrow changes colors for cars coming up on the C7.R while the cars he has passed are a different color. Wow, do the drivers of today have technology that makes it easier than in the past to race like a pro!

This is awesome to watch and probably very demanding to do. Can't believe all the focus that goes into a race. Thanks for sharing.

@@ukarlu Apparently not. AC is better VR. And iRacing is just pure SIM racing. P Cars isn't bad now, but it could have been better.

The Rolex 24hrs of Daytona is unparalleled in the world of racing. It's grueling 24hrs / 740 laps and 2637.7 miles is second only to the 24hrs of LeMans. This years 2015 Corvette Racing Team was relentless and feared when there yellow & black #3 & #4 C7.R Z06 Corvettes rolled out of the trailer and into pit lane. It was thrilling to in the pits and exciting to watch this truly AMAZING Corvette Racing Team take the checkered flag. Congratulations to #3 Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia, Ryan Briscoe / #4 Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner, Simon Pagenaud and the entire C7.R team.........Ty Woodhall / Bondurant

Unparalleled? You mean not counting the 24 Hours of Le Mans?

Your forgetting the 24hr of nurburgring, thats alot more tough than the daytona 24hr, but thats just my opinion
@shitpostadmiralty29218 жыл бұрын
I agree, Nurburgring just kills the cars with the relentless elevation changes, Daytona is hard as hell but not as hard as Nurburgring.
@largol33t17 жыл бұрын
Honestly, you can't compare the two. The 'Ring has a whopping 176 turns and is so massive that it surrounds a village! Daytona is a walk in the park compared to the 'Ring.
