Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.
If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

I love your Food and Travel Videos and have been a Subscriber for several years now! ❤ I have been to Lao, as the natives pronounce it, i.e. Singular, NOT Plural, and enjoyed Vientiane several times. The street foods that I found were much like the street foods here in Thailand but not as spicy hot. Thank you all once again and please keep up these good works!! lmfao in a traditional hmong/laos home... bitter bile beef/xo/buffalo laab is a delicacy tapas style type of food snack where men enjoys it over some beer while butchering a fresh cow.. it's only good when made fresh and properly.. people can get sick easily if not made and consume properly. In the States Normally it is taste best on Free range, organic, only grass fed Young Angus/limousin cattles, not your typical slaughter house soy ,grain and corn fed beef cattles.

When the Nazi army invaded North Africa in 1941, the German tank drivers thought it was good luck to run over piles of camel dung. The Allies started to make fake camel dung piles and connect them to explosives that would detonate when run over by any luck-seeking tank driver. The deceit was so well planned that the Allies even put tire track marks in their fake dung piles to trick the tank drivers into plowing over them. But, camel dung in its true form would hold a life-saving secret. Soldiers were suffering greatly from dysentery and the Nazi medical corps was brought in to attempt to alleviate the outbreaks. Early on, the local nomads were thought to hold a key to the solution, because they rarely suffered from dysentery. In fact, when an outbreak of dysentery occurred, or even when slight diarrhea was experienced, the nomads would diligently follow their camels around. When a camel defecated, the nomad would quickly scoop up the dung and ingest some while it was still steaming. After close scrutiny of the dung, the corps discovered that the dung was loaded with the bacterium Bacillus subtilis. This species is in the same genus as a terribly pathogenic species, Bacillus anthracis, which causes anthrax, an often lethal respiratory disease. Bacillus subtilis, however, has since become one of those bacterial species considered “good” for humans.

Not many people know how to make it too, it’s quite complex to get the blood mixture right to eat. It’s a drinking dish, paired with beer Lao, amazing combo. We also eat with with crackers and chase it with mint leaves, garlic clove and ginger pieces. Craving for it, we don’t have it at restaurants here in Australia 🇦🇺. It’s gotta be made from home.

Many people do not know that Northern Thai Isan food actually originated from Laos. Many people do not think Lao has its own culture and cuisine, so I think this is a great way for people to gain some cultural insight. I would love to see next time you try some of the more mainstream and common food, as it is more palatable for foreign taste usually. The more exotic dishes are great too, but it may discourage people from trying Lao cuisine if that is all that they think Lao food consist of. Thank you for this educational video and keep up the great work!

I freaking LOVE it! i really, really, really want to visit Laos someday. For some reason I've always had an obsession with it, mainly because as a teenager I dated an Isaan girl from Thailand for a few months, and I found out they're culturally pretty similar to Laotians (according to themselves). That relationship didn't last long (it was not that much to begin with anyway), but my fascination for Laos stayed :)
@PrimalRage-om8uz
@PrimalRage-om8uz Жыл бұрын
Thai Isaan are descendants of Lao people. Thailand took over portion of north east through war from way back in the days. So the laos people that live there became part of Thailand. Their language and culture still similar to Laos, you can tell they're different from Bangkok people.

Many Lao people moved from the eastern bank of the Mekong to the west right before the Laos was ceded to the French, one of the many factors why Isaan culture is so similar to Lao.

This is the first time I genuinely felt sick watching this show. The fact that the bike was poop colored too was just too much for me. Props for being able to handle it.

Yia Vang actually said "in the hmong way, we call this Khao bong" lol Pretty just a pronunciation of Khao Poon, which is a Lao dish. When will Yia Vang finally keep it real and acknowledge the fact that a lot of the food he claims to be hmong is actually just Lao food?

A lot of Hmong people know Khao Poon is Laos. It's a Laotian word.

Don't get mad or jealous. Acknowledge my ass, kaopoon is not a lao name of food ok. Kao is rice, poob is drop. That's a hmong food name moron, if you want the world to Acknowledge laos foods that is called padest. Padest is the only food every household of laos have at their house ok

Interesting to see the food they eat in Laos. It’s so foreign to me. I don’t think I would be able to eat any of it. So many of the things they eat are things that are regarded as disgusting in the western world but I guess taste is subjective.

Great video! My Lao friend invited me over for some duck pizza and it turned out to be the duck blood dish at the end. Wasn’t what I was expecting! Lao food is great. Has a proper zing to it. Nothing like some grilled Lao sausage and beef tongue with sticky rice wrapped in some lettuce and herbs. They seem to make their larb with a hero dose of heat. It’s all great drinking food
