Use water, trust me! Either submerge your pot in a bucket of water or have somebody spraying water while you are drilling. It reduces the risk of cracking, keeps the bit cool, and drastically prolongs the life of your bit. Also he's very slight pressure. For the most part, especially with masonry bits you want to let the drill do the work. You don't want to press super hard not only can It crack your pots but it can ruin your drill end of the bit as well. These bits are more com about four or five dollars (way cheaper). The masonry and tile bit both have a spade shape at the end of them, however a tile bit does not have that corkscrew look like normal drill bit has, it is just the spade end connected to a small metal post.

Adding cool water while you drill helps speed up the process.

Thanks!! I never thought about the sandpaper idea or the screwdriver!! Now I can drill holes faster ❤❤❤

Just remember, the inner part of the pot will chip a bit when you use the screwdriver hack. So if you want a perfect hole, just drill. Mine is for personal use, so I dont mind that the hole is not perfect. 😊

I used a cheap tile bit, will probably pay up for a diamond one, eventually chipped it a bit.

You are using the wrong drill bit !!! You need a concrete/cement drill bit

Yet it worked. And she described exactly why she wasn't using another bit at the very top of the video.

It's a great alternative to using a diamond hole saw. It would be great to know the amount of time it takes to drill one hole. It makes a difference (cost vs time) if you're drill one hole or a number of pots. Nice video, Thank You!

It took a while just drilling without hammering in a screw driver. But if you follow the method I did, it only takes about 5 mins per pot so it makes it a bit quicker. I know it could take about that much time or longer with the diamond drill bit as well. Although my method is not perfect and will not make a perfect hole, it works pretty well.

@@TheseSucculentBuddies That's not bad at all! For a moment I thought it would be like 10-15 mins per hole which then becomes a lot of time. Thank you for your quick and helpful response and will def try this method!

Hope it works out. Just be gentle when tapping the screwdriver into your pots. And make sure to use semi thick ceramics, not too thin or they might crack.

😂20 minutes? I think you exaggerated just a little bit. It doesn’t take 20 minutes to drill with a diamond head drill bit.😂

This is how not to do it. Use water, and a ceramic drill bit and it will take you three hours less.
