Too many books to look through but it is basically a variant of what you see in Edgerunners, when the smaller boxer used an implant to kill the larger boxer by sending a spike to the brain causing the driver that Maine's team was klepping to lose his bet. And the couple were trying to remember your name to name their baby after you for your generosity, but they only remembered the first letter. It did work, you just hacked the car behind the target. Did you not see it suddenly stop, allowing you to pass it and continue the chase? ... While Corps and Corpos generally don't give a care about the dregs of society, this does not sound right. Things that logically make sense before Arasaka poisoning water that everyone uses including them? Nuclear fallout left over not just from Silverhand bombing the tower, but also from the years of the Red, which took place as residual effects from the 4th Corporate War. Polluted water from all the trash dumped in the reservoir seeping into the groundwater, as well as trash seeping down from the city. Carcinogens from Spilled CHOOH2 as well as acid rain from the smog and pollution seeping into the ground water. And while Arasaka may possibly have manufacturing facilities in NC to produce waste to dump, generally they would want to keep the production facilities in locations that are entirely under their control and not shared with other megacorps (like smaller towns and cities where ALL residents are employed and vetted by Arasaka,) to reduce risk of espionage. Given how Daniels was upset when you were found, I think this was one you wanted to do stealth. And I am pretty sure Daniels is dead because right when you got in the truck there was the option to save him which was lost when you drove out of the compound at the docks. To rescue him would have involved exiting the truck before leaving the compound, saving him and I think both of you riding together to Capitan. Taking the time to gather the evidence then talk to him and let him know who hired you is good because then you find out why he seems to be going behind Lizzy's back, and thus preventing her from having a cyberpsychosis moment and killing him. He has in fact broached the subject of her... not being herself which would result in her... briefly being violent. He does not want you to tell anyone, because if the Media find out it will be a field day and possibly end of Lizzy's career, and of course if you tell Lizzy the whole truth, she will snap and kill him before realizing herself that his idea of editing her psyche over and over is the inspiration she needs for her next album, and also something that awakens a new kink or fetish in her.

From kurt's dialogue and how he interacts with people he doesn't seem to come over as 'evil'. I wonder if he's technically the good guy in the story and the prez & songbird are the villains. Dunno, but that would be great twist.
