Hey everyone🤍! I wanted to address some comments that are being made on this video. Yes I bleach my hair, does that make me 100% sustainable? No it doesn’t. I never claimed to be the perfect image of sustainability nor will I ever. I’m human, I have faults I’m not perfect. What I can do is do my best every day while still living a life I love. I candidly love the way I feel when my hair is done, it makes me feel confident. I will never lie to you guys or claim that I have it all down but I will share my journey in the hopes that I inspire one person to try and do better for our environment. One reason why I choose not to use bleach or “toxic” cleaners in my home is because I have a dog that is my baby and of course I would never take my dog to get my hair done with me lol. Another reason is because I don’t want to support the businesses that create those products because of their environmental impact from the waste they produce during the manufacturing process. Yes, I also used plastic from the broccoli in this video because at that time the grocery store we go to had an aphid infestation on the unpackaged broccoli so we decided to grab a bag instead, I wasn’t trying to be sneaky about it lol. I live in a place where I don’t have many grocery store options around me for our current budget so I’m sorry but there’s nothing I can do to change that right now, I am moving soon, Justin has been applying to jobs, and I plan on buying our veggies only in their natural packaging where I can. Again, I will always be honest with you guys and transparent, If you need a KZbinr that is 100% zero waste and a sustainable goddess, you won’t find that here. I’m just a minimalist trying to share my journey to hopefully inspire you guys to go after a life that feels fulfilling to you. Part of that journey is learning ways to be sustainable in a corrupt system, it won’t be perfect but I for sure will always try and do my best. So much love to every single one of you 🤍🥰

We all should also focus on not criticising those who are already trying to have a positive impact on our environment. Rather, we should criticise those who don't do anything at all or even use their social media platform to promote things that are destroying our planet.

This is the first video I watch of you, and I found this comment you made. It can be so frustrating and it’s completely unnecessary when people make such comments or even have this mentality at all. Attempting to live zero waste doesn’t mean we have to not color or bleach our hair. 🙄 If that’s one thing that makes you happy, you shouldn’t have to explain yourself to anyone. I also color and bleach my hair. It’s one thing that makes me super happy. And some people also doesn’t want to be grey, and therefore colors their hair. Ayy that’s my unasked for 5 cents.🙈 Have a lovely day!

I had to get the cam and a SD card . she also wanted a study bible for her daughter. I ordered Glue sticks and gallon Ziplock bags for my sons teachers because thats what she requested. How do I go about those purchases? Teacher wanted ziplocks because they are sending home items to students and disposable is mandatory. they dont want to disinfect and buy sturdy bags x2 . That woudl be super expensive and more work for them.

Another good tip you should try is rather than buying pre-packed fruits and veggies (like I see you using in your video with broccoli), buy your vegetables not chopped up and bring your own bag for produce! That way you’re not buying more plastics products.
@nevillelongbottom16283 жыл бұрын
Lots of great things in here but I'm disappointed that you use the "toxic" argument. I totally agree that it's important to use products that are ethically sourced and are reusable or renewable resources, but cleaning products arent bad because they use chemicals - they're bad because they're TOO powerful and because they come in plastic containers. I know you agree with me because you use vinegar, which is a powerful cleaner that is totally safe for use around babies and pets. But then you mentioned tea tree oil - one of the issues you mentioned was being unsafe to inject. Tea tree oil is unsafe to ingest. This shows that being scared of chemicals or "toxic" products isnt the problem- the problem is when people use products that arent environmentally safe. Another good example is using bleach. Bleach, like vinegar, will kill bad bacteria. But bleach also kills good bacteria...and it's so powerful that where I live you cant work with bleach unless you have a respirator on. It's bad for your lungs and can kill you if you ingest it. Vinegar is a good alternative because it is antibacterial and safe for the home. But both are toxic. If you look at the actual definition for toxic, both of them are toxic, and if you say it has chemicals, then you have to acknowledge that everything has chemicals. The toxic argument is used by companies to greenwashing everything to pretend they're doing better for the planet by selling you "green" alternatives when often they are not doing anything differently except for their packaging. The toxic argument is used to dismantle environmental efforts and keep us focused on consumerism, but instead of buying products with white packaging, we buy products with cardboard, brown, or green packaging with words like "Sustainable" and "Eco friendly" on the front. It is a scam and it's designed to hinder our attempts to help the planet. Even your laundry detergent is a green washed product - and I did research it, and in this case it does look like they did some marginal effort to make it more eco friendly, but that is not usually the case. I hope you read this and do some research into how companies are using green efforts to sell you even more things, using the title of "toxic" to scare you

This is amazing!! Thank you! I feel a lot better when I minimize waste personally It’s just not good for our environment I mean we have to live on this earth We should try to keep it clean We can do better I’m trying to completely stop supporting the companies that continue to trash it AND it’s saving us hard earned cash honey ☺️🤪

Suggestion for you girly! Since you can't use a bidet right now, you can get a emtpy dish soap bottle and fill it up with water and wash yourself after. I use the ones with a squirt tip. Haven't had to use as much toilet paper since I've switched and I feel so much cleaner!

I have saved a tonne of money by using them so far 1 bag of pellets has lasted a whole year. Once the pellets are worn down you just replace them. They are very effective and my clothes still smell great. I was really sceptical that it would work but I think they're great. :)

What I started doing for travel souvenirs is stopped buying t-shirts or more expensive trinkets (because they really add up when you travel a lot). Instead I buy a postcard and keep them all in a postcard album, so I have a little visual look book of all of the places we’ve stopped and I wanted a reminder from. When I go to national parks I stamp them with the stamps they keep for the park passports to record the day that we were there. It’s nice because if I want to buy one more expensive item (art, collectible) that I love from somewhere along the trip, I have the ability to because I’m not spending $5-$6 every place we go on a cheap trinket I don’t love and don’t have space in my house for. We travel all of the time and go all over the country, so this has probably saved me at least $1,000 over the past 5 years or so of traveling.

I'm not saying this as criticism or trying to nit pick you...I know you're just doing your best and its great how you are spreading so much great inspiration for lower waste and minimalism. These are just some comments that are FYI...take them or leave them...1) the duster you bought is obviously a great improvement...however, ideally when you need to replace the cloth portion I would not recommend fleece as it is plastic and sheds microfibres into the water ( eventually ocean) and is very damaging to our entire ecosystem and marine life. ( that goes for all synthetic material ( aka plastic), a Guppyfriend bag can help in the mean time. 2) perhaps you could ask Tushy bidet to work with you and they could give you a bidet and they could sponsor your video ( as so many other KZbinrs have) . They fit on almost any toilet and can be hooked up and removed with no damage to anything so even if renting it can work and you can take it with you when you move 3) I understand if the brand Seventh Generation is the best you have available to you at this time...it is definitely ether than any 'conventional ' brand both health wise and packaging. However, I just wanted to let you know I case you were not aware but Seventh Generation...though started so wonderfully was, sadly sold and bought by the huge corporation 'Unilever' which is a pretty terrible company in all the waste and toxic products of all their other brands that they produce. I hope something was helpful or enlightening..if not, have a great day!

I don't know of any brands who use this- I'm sure you can imagine the cost and difficulty of sourcing this ingredient (especially given that most people don't eat beavers so they'd be harvesting fur and scent only) means that most companies are using synthetic fragrance (or for food- real vanilla) nowadays. I guess it's worth looking for but I would not say that 'most' vanilla products (and certainly NO food products as it's illegal) are using beaver-sourced castoreum.

For the perfumes try oil based fragrances that you fun behind the ear or on your wrists - last forever, cheap, eco, wooden packaging, not irritating- perfect!

Just got to the purple shampoo part! You can actually use Gentian violet and add it to your shampoo or conditioner, or anything really. Just be careful with measurements, or you'll end up with purple hair :D

So glad I found your channel (first of all your pup is my dreeeeam, what a cutie!) but also your aesthetic and general vibe is so relaxing! I’m not sure if it’s an Aussie thing but I’ve never heard of dryer sheets of disposable dusters! Regardless this was a great reminder that I reallllllly need to swap to a long term shaver!
@ReneaDominique4 жыл бұрын
Awww thank you, Izzy is for sure a cutie haha 😂🤍 oh interesting! I know Aussies don’t really use dryer sheets because fabric softener does enough and maybe dusters are called something different in Australia.🤍 Oh my goodness I seriously love having a long lasting shaver, it’s so much cheaper in the long run and it works soooooo much better!!

And about removing your makeup: it probably won't be good for everyone, but coconut oil, or any type of oil is great for removing your makeup :D

Also what about wasted time from doing so many things the longer way? Are these not considered in the low waste lifestyle?

In case you are also vegan for the animals and not just the planet I wanted to point out that the natural loofa looks like a sea sponge, which is actually an animal. Just letting you know, lots of love! The video was amazing and I truly believe your subscriber count will go up immensely!

I’m not sure I read your comment correctly. Loofah is actually a plant you can grow and eat or dry it out to use for bathing.

@@lillypatience sorry maybe I didn’t look close enough. I was thinking of a sponge, which is actually an animal like this one for example: images.app.goo.gl/436gfWX3JvQqcpn96 You’re right though loofahs are plants, just be aware which one you buy.

@@vivigoesusa Oh okay, that makes sense. Thanks! I didn't know those existed, but yes they sure do look a lot like loofahs.

Hey, about the bottled shampoo conditioner. i know a german brand called: Kupfergrün. It is still a small company, and i am honest i don`t know if they are shipping around the world yet or just the EU, but i love their concept because their products are vegan, there is no plastic what so ever in and around it, and they try to do their best to design new products and also care about the earth. No i am not sponsored by them, i just love their hairproducts! :D
