This is the longest shot I have taken to date. After having good luck at 1200 yards on a windy day, I decided to try for 1400 yards.
If you want to see just impact shots CLICK HERE---7:20
To anyone that doesn't believe the distance, I offer proof in this video.
To range the target in the scope 36" divided by 2.56 MOA X 100 = 1406.25 yards.
It takes me 6 shot's to get on target. I use my windage from earlier that day and was WAY OFF. The wind had shifted from my 7-8 O'clock to more of a 6-7 O'clock. I get 4 shot's on target in a row. So I didn't just get lucky.
The best I can tell my Dial was 57 3/4 elevation and 2 1/2 Left.
My scope Max's out at 62 MOA. This is as far as this gun will shoot with out a holdover or more MOA adjustment. I can do up to a 20MOA holdover with this scope.
One issue I may be having is the fence row at about 780 yards out. My bullet is dropping around 800 inches or about 67 feet. The bullet may be impacting the tops of the trees. I don't know for sure, but its possible.
If you want to skip ahead to the impact shots click HERE--- 7:20
Shots 6, 7, 8, and 9 were on target.

I just bought the same rifle and if I can duplicate your results it will be the best $389 I ever spent. I am going to stick with the inexpensive theme for a scope by going SWFA. Not easy getting on target at all in the wind at 1400 yards. Anyone talking smack about this is an armchair theorist and has never done any substantial shooting past 1000 as I have witnessed very experience guys never getting on target at all in the wind at similar ranges. Mine was an impulse buy as I had no rifle to take on an upcoming antelope hunt. I was going to buy a Tikka T3 Lite in 25-06 as I had one before which I lost in a divorce. I saw this in stock at a LGS and scoffed a little at it while the salesman talked it up. After researching it further, I realized that it would at very least be easy to sell if I didn't like it. Judging from several reports it should be a better than expected setup.

That rifle is doing better than I thought it would at 1400 with the 22" barrel :) I paint my LR targets blaze orange with a white centre circle of 12" to help line up on it and view hits through the scope :)

I have painted them white in the past and it seemed I could see the hits better on the flat black. The amount of sun shine makes a difference also. This was shot in late afternoon. I may give white another try.

These days forget spending big money on the rifle. Spend $400 on the rifle and $1200 on a scope and you'll be shooting up to a mile. All for less than a $1 a yard. Of course as long as you do your part, which is no small task. Great shooting by the way.

I was shooting with a guy late last spring and he was having a custom 6mm Creedmoor built, Nightforce Optic, lots of good stuff. and he told me if his would shoot half as good as mine he would be happy. Now I think he wishes he would of got one like mine.
@sethrich5998
@sethrich5998 7 жыл бұрын
243 Outdoors Well there really isn't much to complain about. For me the only complaint would be the magazine but that's because I'd like to use it as an entry to PRS competition. Being 4 rounds is the only problem I see with this being a very competitive rifle for a small initial investment. And of course that leaves plenty of room for quality glass.
@sethrich5998
@sethrich5998 7 жыл бұрын
Also speaking of 6mm I do find it interesting how 6.5 Creedmoor was the hot new thing, then someone decided to wildcat it to 6mm... which is basically back to being a 243 which has been around forever. Although my understanding is the advantage is mostly in barrel life not performance over 243 as the shoulder and neck are supposed to have better geometry to limit throat erosion in the 6mm Creedmoor.

OK, subscribed. Good shooting, especially with no help in that wind. I found your videos because I am looking at buying a 6.5cm but not really familiar with the cartridge. Wondering what your muzzle velocity is and where you are located (or elevation)? 1400 is a pretty dang long ways, good job.
@243Outdoors
@243Outdoors 7 жыл бұрын
I usually describe the 6.5 between a .243 and a .308. It's a little pricey to buy factory ammo, but if you reload, it about the same as anything else. Factory muzzle velocity is 2710. I estimated mine about 2725. I am in So. Illinois, elevation is 457ft. I shoot the Hornady 140g ELD bullets and love them. I made a mile shot today and will have the video up hopefully in the next 24 hours.

Good shooting. I look forward to getting my RAR 6.5 creedmoor out to the range once I get an optic. Did you break your barrel in before working on load development?
@243Outdoors
@243Outdoors 7 жыл бұрын
As far as a break in procedure, no. I just shot it. I got 100 rounds of factory ammo, and shot it in about 20 rounds sessions over a couple weeks. Once I got 50-60 rounds of brass, I started the load development. It really stared shooting good around the 75 round mark. I have never cleaned the bore ever.

That's great news...I have 76 rounds through my 6.5 RAP as of last weekend. Hunting season is finally over (I used Hornady factory rounds with 129 gr to kill two deer and one coyote)) and I have 50 cases run through my die. I'll load up some trial loading this week and hit the range as soon as the weather is decent. (I want a very calm day when testing loads.)

That's the plan. I'm just about out of adjustment. It max's out at 62 MOA, I can do a 20 holdover, but I'm going to need about 84-90 MOA for 1 mile. I may get some Burris Signature Rings that you can adjust up to another 40 MOA.
@keithmartin6751
@keithmartin6751 7 жыл бұрын
243 Outdoors on my .243 I run a 20 moa base and the Burris rings, depending on the spacing between the rings you can get ~50 moa. I was able to get it dialed in to where I'm 3 moa from bottom and have 104 moa up, which easily does a mile. Your an awesome shot btw.

@243Outdoors
@243Outdoors 7 жыл бұрын
It sounds great. Like a perfected .243. It has a good twist rate and with the 108 ELD bullet velocities should be 3000+ fps. Sounds like a great platform out to 1000-1200 yards. The only downfall will be barrel life.
