I really like the slow step by step way you demonstrate the guitar tunes. I've recently restarted playing after many years of just playing an acoustic from time to time. thanks a million

Great job teaching this. It's a difficult three chord song to play (four if you're a stickler for variations - E7). At least it's hard on an acoustic. I think you pretty much need an electric to get it to sound right. But you've inspired me to give it another shot anyway.

Loved the lesson Howard. You mentioned Fender tremolo, however Creedence was using Kustom 200 amps at the time. They’re equipped with tremolo & reverb. I know because I still have one. Purchased in 1969, mine is a 100 watt head (even though it’s a Kustom 200) with a tall cab with two Jenson 15’s & one 15 JBL D140F. Sounds awesome! I don’t use it much anymore because it’s too heavy for me but it’s a true classic but I am trying to sell it.

Yes! You're so right. When I was growing up, a player a few blocks over had one. I'd completely forgotten about that :-)

I'm really enjoying, and am grateful for, your lessons. For one, nice tone and chops. But also you explain the subtleties and how to emulate John Fogerty's playing style etc. And you nail it, of course! Cheers from Tassie, down under 🍻

What a great band. It's too bad John couldn't settle his differences with his brother and band mates because they could've been playing together to this day. Happy New year Howard!
@raiderjohnthemadbomber8666 Жыл бұрын
It wasn't so much a problem with John. The bandmates decided that they wanted some of that writing credit and, of course the $ for same. In other words they decided to wreck a winning formula because their witty feelbads were hurt. This was instigated by Saul Zaents, CCRs manager and publisher of Fantasy Records who aquired Johns catalogue. He finally got it back in 2004 when Fantasy was bought out by Prestige Records who restored the rights to John as a good will gesture.

I agree. What a great band. They transcended the generations and still today its awesome party music even for younger people.

John didn't do Anything to break up the band. The others wanted credit for songs they didn't write. Royalties

Howard, I have a question , Is the song Bad Moon Rising tuned down to D? the reason for my question is that a cool little riff comes in at about the 40 second mark and continues through the song. I just cant get it to sound right. Any help would be appreciated.
@247GuitarwithHowardHart2 жыл бұрын
I haven't visited that one for a while, but I seem to remember it being in standard tuning. I'll have to give it a listen.

Great chops and clear teaching . I sent this to my teenage son in hopes it would inspire him to learn and practice. Apart from Tremolo, what effects/amp are you using to get that tone?
@247GuitarwithHowardHart2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching :-) Aside from the Tremolo pedal, it's just straight into and Orange Crush RT20 practice amp... The gain is set at about 12:00 (maybe a little hotter)

@@247GuitarwithHowardHart Thanks so much. It just goes to show that the 'right gear' matters more than 'more gear' for great tone.
