There is a point to be made for us not going through as much as the Buckeyes have because the way we do things are different. It runs through the Buckeyes culture, their team and their fanbase. They came out expecting a win and talking smacks before it all happened while we do not take things for granted. We've certainly been spoiled but our guys know how hard they need to work to get there and this year is also a reminder to the fans that nothing is granted just because we're Michigan. I think a fact about the rivalry most fans outside the teams don't realize, and even a good number of casual fans of these teams don't realize is, this rivalry has historically always swung. There's a reason the "10-year war" was so fascinating, outside that game basically being a Big Ten championship game all those seasons, it's really the only stretch where the rivalry truly went back and forth most years. Most of the time, one team takes 70+ percent of games in a given decade.

Nobody believed harbaugh when he said he was making (made) institutional changes after the 2020 season in order to beat ohio and control the B10. But all we heard was 1 was a fluke, 2 was lucky, then before and after 3 it was all because they "cheated." They work the entire year for this one afternoon. Ohio works the entire week of the game. That's the difference. Don't be fooled, the B10 still goes thru Ann Arbor. After a year, maybe 2, of rebuilding, they'll be back winning championships.

"control the Big 10" ?? Hardly the case when you are 5-4. Harbaugh was suspended twice last year for cheating. Saturday was an embarrassment for all of Ohio State - Michigan doesn't understand there are things besides losing that are embarrassing.

of all the bragging comments on here that i've scrolled thru (obviously not surprising) this is the 1st one (as a tosu alum/season tix holder) that actually gets to the root cause. day is a really good coach. even w/all the obvious pluses the program has, in this day of transfer portal and now n-i-l, you're not 66-10 just on talent. imho it's not um per se that's in his head; he let harbaugh's comments get to him, and it's affected his approach. as the off coord under meyer then in '19-'20 as head coach, his offense was more wide open. pass attack could set up the run and vice versa. that's been changing since um re-asserted itself in the rivalry. if you're missing your 2 best o-linemen, and you're going up against um's pair of nfl-level tackles, is the best strategy going up the middle constantly on 1st/2nd down? if um's best db isn't playing, do you only target your best wr twice in the last 30:00? at the end of the 3rd qtr, um had 123 yds of total offense, and yet was still very much in the game, thx to a td drive of 2 yds set up by a bad pick from howard, a 3 yd drive set up by a short punt and a brilliant long fg by your kicker, and 5 buckeye drives into the red zone that produced 1 td, 1 fg, 2 missed fg's and another interception. um needed to make this a rock fight instead of a track meet in order to have a shot at it. they did it, and the buckeyes' helped them out to that end. tosu's d played great; the strategy on offense combined w/all those mistakes & missed opportunities did them in. to um's credit, in each of the last 4 yrs they've been the better team in the 4th qtr.

@@jamesmarkscott6202 if you had told me 4 years ago that the offense would end up costing Ryan Day the game instead of the defense, I would have laughed. I agree that it was more Harbaughs comment then UOFM at first. But now UOFM is living that comment and making it there motto. it is UOFM. I also agree that Ryan day is a good coach, and should not be fired, he just has a bug against Michigan like Harbaugh did with Meyer. All Ryan Day had to do to win this game was do what he did the last 3 years on offense. That being said I really feel like if OSU does not win the natty there is a good chance Ryan Day is gone. And to Ryans defense, if it wasn't for his kicker having a colossal flop, he would have won this game and could have bragged about "out physically Michigan" finally. I kind of feel bad for that kicker man, he's gonna be crucified on campus.

I was at the 1969 game. It was an amazing game..People never at down in the second half. That was a great upset, but this team this year was nowhere as good as that 1969 team. In fact it is one of the very worst teams at Michigan since 1961 when I started watching. I did not watch the 2024 game because I thought it would be a slaughter. I was stunned when I turned on the TV late in the 4th quarter. I simply could not believe it. As a Penn State fan: 10 years ago when we would lose to OSU every season, it was because they had elite O and D linemen. The last few years, we were at least equal to them or better than them at the line of scrimmage but would lose games because our offense would choke under the pressure, our defense would be on the field too long, and then our defense would be too tired for the 4th quarter. The program identity in the past was about top quality guys in the trenches. They needed to go out and spend that 20 mil on their linemen and this game would have taken care of itself.
