Yeah Freeman is insane. I'd say the job he did is the most impressive by far of any of the coaches. Sure Day did good, but he had Chip Kelly as his OC (which is an insane OC to have) and an absurd level of talent. Notre Dame was working with wayyy less talent than OSU and still almost did it.

Notre Dame looked great and it sucks to come all that way to lose. I felt that way, thinking what if Ohio State loses. Other than that hats off to Notre Dame, Marcus Freeman and the team he has put together and Riley Leonard being a tough mother fucker going against that Ohio State Defensive Line and taking those hits over and over.

Imagine being a player playing for a coach and a team that you love. Your team has lost to the newbie on the block, lost to your rival, and can’t play for a conference championship. You are being told your team is underachievers. The coach you love is called to the chopping block. And it’s you and the team’s fault. You have only one path to make things right and save everyone. OSU wasn't even the team that paid the most this year. Oregon and Texas spent more. You have teams like Florida State paying recruits thousands of dollars just to visit to school. OSU mainly just retained draft eligible players and every conversation at ESPN is about how much OSU paid. Hell Texas took Ewers from OSU by paying him 3X the amount OSU was (reportedly). ND's RB bought his mom a Porshe, not like those guys are not getting paid too.

The portal 100% won us the natty. Judkins 121 yds and 3 TDs, Will Howard 288 yds 2 TDs 99.1 QBR. The other guys played great, but these 2 were the difference makers. Overall, the team played solid and came together for the win. I love it! THE Ohio State Buckeyes are national champs!

It's good to hear people like JP voice a positive opinion of Ohio State and Ryan Day. Maybe some of the people who call themselves fans of Ohio State will change their thoughts on Ryan Day. I'm just happy Coach Day got the first one - but with his age and ability I think 7 is the over/under for his career.

Timing is everything for this Ohio State team. If we still had the 4-team CFP, that loss at home to 6-5, 20-point underdog Michigan would have eliminated them (they were ranked 6th in the final CFP poll on Dec. 8th). Instead, they will always have the distinction of winning the first 4-team CFP and the first 12-team CFP. And their nemesis up north will forever be the team that beat Ohio State and Alabama in back-to-back games two years in a row. I'm betting that's never been done before!
@lowellfultz199010 күн бұрын
Born & bred Buckeye here...the only down side to winning this is that Ryan Day will be allowed to lose to that team up north 3 or 4 more years before being let go now. You said it yourself Josh...that play to Jeremiah was open on 2nd down too, and I saw that also. I saw ND playing him all night 1on1 without getting torched for it. Watch the film from last night (and during the season for that matter), how many times Treveyon Henderson was WIDE OPEN in the flat with a ton of green in front of him, and we've seen what he can do in open space. It takes a special kind of coach to coach up the amount of talent that OSU had, ala Saban, Belichick. I may be proven wrong, but I still don't believe the Day/Kelly combo will be able to consistently win with big talent teams going forward. All of that said...GO BUCKS!!

Gratz to OSU for a great season ....In conference equity has arrived ...inter-conference equity is still far away. There needs to be more incentive to play more the better teams in inter-conference play during the season What's changed in College Football .... 7 of the top 12 teams has 3 losses ... so no, 2-3 losses should not exclude you from playoffs ... Beat 5 top teams is not all that impressive when you may play 3 or 4 playoff games. Here's a question ....What best reflects the strength of a college football team ? 1. W-L Record ? Regardless of conference ? 2. Final Rankings ? 3. FPI ?

OSU's last 6 games: Indiana, Michigan, Tennessee, Oregon, Texas and ND. OSU lost one game by 3 points, with two missed short field goals and what was likely a concussed QB. Overall score differential: +93. Who does that?

Christian Gray is the most polarizing player in the country. He has made huge plays at the end of game after getting cooked all night, but not last night. He had his chance on that last 3rd down to Jeremiah Smith. All night he was getting cooked why in the world was he man to man on Smith that last play ???

As a Michigan fan, I would like to congratulate Coach Ryan Day, the Ohio State players, and the Buckeye fans on their national championship. You still can't win The Game, but you won just about every other game. Enjoy basking in the afterglow until the 2025 season starts, like we Michigan fans got to do last year. And let no one ever say again that Coach Day can't win a big game. He can't win The Game, but he won four other very big games and now he has on his resume "National Championship Winning Head Coach."
@denisdooley154011 күн бұрын
Can't beat Michigan? 😂 Funny, because he has. I know you'd like to block out 56-27, but Day was Ohio State's head coach in 2019. 😅 Spin all you want, we may not have won all the prizes this year, but we took home the biggest one and there is simply no way you freezer pop 🤡🤡🤡 can take the shine off of that.

@denisdooley1540 Ohio State hasn't beaten Michigan since 1 B.C., but a national championship is worth celebrating. (B.C. means Before COVID.) Smile and dance for a week and be happy. If Coach Cooper had won a couple of nattys no one would care that he couldn't beat Michigan.

It's crazy to think a team that wasn't even in their conference championship won the natty. It's like a plot hole in a movie you have to try and not think about to enjoy it. The worst part of this thing is it's the end of the 'Ryan Day choking' jokes. I'm going to miss them.

I don’t know how good of a coach Day is. I’m not close enough to the program to know. But he’s a national champion and I judge coaches wins and losses so he’s an A+ coach. Now, he did have the best roster in football. And yes they had to pay for that roster. They get credit recruiting those players first but there is no chance they all stay without paying for them.

I know this is besides the point but I would like to point out that Kirby really never beat Saban. Yes the national title counts but Bamas receivers were knocked out of that game and where the difference in the first game that season. I think Kirby is great but I never really thought he slayed the Saban dragon.

Congrats to Ohio State, you were the best team this year. This game reminded me of the mid nighties NFL Playoffs, the NFC championship was the real Super Bowl. I think Ohio State won the national championship when they beat Texas in the Cotton Bowl.
