The most powerful thing Lsu could do to make the stadium stronger, is to allow Mike the Tiger back in. He was banned about a decade ago. But up until then he would go into the stadium and inspect it, then he would park in front the visitors tunnel which would make him angry and he would roar at the enemy as they came out. Thats TRULY unfair but it was us who tied our hands behind our back not abybody else.
@treyday5726 ай бұрын
LSU is trying to remain an accredited tiger sanctuary. No way they could expect to keep that standing and continue to trot Mike out there. Plus, unlike a lot of other fans, I thought the tradition was overrated. He came out hauled behind a tractor in this tiny cage, you could never see him very well, and I doubt many players coming out of the visitors locker room were too intimidated by a caged docile tiger. That's like being intimidated when you pass a tiger cage at the zoo. I don't miss it, but I understand some old baws still do.
@jamesbernsen35166 ай бұрын
As an Aggie fan, we lost our greatest tradition, the Aggie Bonfire, when it killed people. I still think it can be brought back and done safe, but there is no lawyer in America who would recommend it. Having a tiger on the field, unless he's in a cage, will never work again in this heavy litigious society anymore. The only way would be in a cage, and then the PETA guys will protest you. It sucks, but it's not changing.

I think some of those metrics are taken from the sideline of the visitors team. For example, at Kyle Field, they purposely built the top covers to bounce back sound onto the visiting teams sideline. I have been fortunate enough to have watched football games in all of the SEC stadiums on multiple occasions. 1997, when #1 ranked FSU came to Gainsesville to square off against #10 ranked UF, was probably the loudest atmospheres I have ever witnessed. Especially the last scoring drive when Doug Johnson of UF hit the deep ball to Jacquez Green. Immediately followed by a big Fred Taylor run to the goal line. With Taylor scoring a rushing TD to take the lead. It was LOUD. But UF left time on the clock and FSU was trying to drive down the field to either tie the game with a FG or possibly win the game with a TD. FSU started the drive from their own 12 yard line with about 1:45 left in the game. That is when the crowd got LOUD LOUD. 1st down - Thad Busby runs for a short gain. 2nd down -Incomplete pass by Thad Busby. 3rd down - Thad Busby passes downfield, and it is intercepted by UF linebacker Dwayne Thomas, which seals the victory for UF. It's not props for JUST one game that was the loudest recorded game in college football but neyland has always been loud if you ask players in the sec what's the hardest/loudest environment most say neyland or death valley and now that tennessee is competing for playoff spots year in and year out neyland is gonna be back to how the old heads remember it in the 90s
@phatphil7836Ай бұрын
I only went to Bama road games from 1985-2007, but neither Legion Field nor Bryant-Denny were as loud as Neyland. The Swamp during the 1990s, however, was deafening.

@kevinvoorheis19906 ай бұрын
All of the stadiums on your list are either complete bowls and/or have a roof over the stands…I say that as a credit to these teams. As a Longhorns fan, I am disappointed with our newest South Endzone renovation. We had an opportunity to close in the bowl and increase the volume in that building…instead they just built boxes where rich people can be inside not making noise.

If you want to see a loud environment you better be in Lincoln week 2. The rumblings in the Cornhusker fanbase are already that it's gonna be loud. It is one of the most important early season tests for Nebraska this season

I have been to LSU OLE MISS AUBURN TENNESSEE GEORGIA FLORIDA STATE And Alabama. Lsu is very loud especially when they are playing Alabama I'm not a AUBURN fan but it gets pretty loud even though OLE Miss Stadium holds alot less people but those fans love the Rebals you can quited it down if they start losing but they're is not much difference between all of them because I went to watch TENNESSEE play at Bama and you could not hear nothing but wild southern people screaming and during that game it was deafening. But at night Lsu is jumping. But they all do. The Last time I went to AUBURN playing GEORGIA and just about beat GEORGIA those people were doing everything they could to help their team beat GEORGIA. The funniest and really loud is when Alabama and AUBURN play in Tuscaloosa those people sound like they are going to get violent lol. They are all great 👍 🎉

Yeah I was at that game and that's probably the 3rd loudest crowd I've ever heard. I'm a Tennessee fan and the Tennessee @ LSU game from 2000 is 2nd? And the Tennessee vs Oklahoma game is the loudest I've heard. But I'm a Tennessee fan so I could be biased 😏 lol

Auburn in 2010 was insane. Went to 4 games at home that year and I can remember beating Clemson in OT how my ears went sonic. Also remember the LSU game in 2006 when we won and went to number 2 in the nation. My ears rang for 24 hours.
@josephcernansky17946 ай бұрын
I have been to games at VA Tech....smaller stadium than some....but definitely louder than anything I ever heard at Michigan, even versus Penn State or Ohio State. BUT NOT louder than what you will hear at Penn State or even THE Big Toilet Bowl that Ohio State plays in! And NO where near what happens at THE White Out!! And yes, I have been to LSU, TX A&M, UT, Georgia, any plenty more. A&M is definitely louder and better than TX (that was back when they did The Bon Fire). LSU was not that loud but that the last time I was in Tiger Stadium was in the mid-80's.

without even having been to autzen i can tell you oregon fans are LOUDEST i’ve ever heard. been to road games where they take up just a small sliver of opposing stadiums and man they fill out the noise like i’ve never seen. noise level has a lot to do with a university’s traditional chants and that “OOO” they shout is deafening. u gotta think there’s a reason why autzen is consistently ranked as the loudest with just 60k capacity

The problem with DKR is the fans historically don’t support the team if they’re struggling. I’ve seen that stadium barely half full for games when they’re not playing well. A lot of these other stadiums pack the place out even if they’re having an off year.

And that was mid day in 100 degree weather which really drains the fans. I was there and it was pretty incredible, especially considering the heat. Texas finally gets a chance to start playing some night games now that they arent in the Big 12 with FOX big noon kickoff. Clearly it's easier for fanbases to get more involved and louder at night.
