Im not sure I've ever seen a team with preseason hype quit like FSU. Sometimes its unfair to say players or a team has quit, but that team is the definition of a team that has quit. FSU walk ons deserve a chance because those guys will at least show some desire to be on the field

ND has elite tailbacks. That wasn’t their issue against NIU - it was that those backs only got 15 attempts. The issue is that Leonard has been an appalling fit for Denbrock’s offense, especially after playing only half a dozen games (while missing boatloads of practice time) since 2022. He actually made big time throws (statistically) at Duke; he’s made none in 3 games this season. But they still would’ve won the NIU game if they just gave Jeremiah Love the damn ball on their last possession. And every other possession before that.

Yeah exactly, I wouldn’t call Notre Dame the team disappointing. The loss was 100% disappointing, but ND is still very good and favored to win the rest of their games. If we drop one more, than fs it’s a disappointing season. Rn it’s more of a “let’s see how the rest of the season plays out”

Josh, I was in South Carolina's marching band back in '84, the "Black Magic" season. The band went to Notre Dame. The stadium was smaller then, and they couldn't fit us in the stands, so they put us in folding chairs on the sidelines. We trailed at halftime and came back to win the game. The weather was miserable which made the experience all the more memorable. Awesome time, great memories!

Even though you have hyped up Billy Napier as a good coach I have not liked him as a coach since he was hired. As things are turning out Napier is not a good coach and he is in way over his head and has no idea of what he is doing. Can't wait until he is fired and hopefully we bring in Jon Gruden.

Season ain't over yet. And we just won 66-7. And the schedule keeps getting easier and easier. So after the win against Purdue, there's a feeling that everything is back on track. And NIU was merely an aberration. So if we're 10-1 vs USC to close out the year with a playoff bid in the balance, I don't know how disappointing that would be. But after NIU we'll just take it one week at a time.
@kbrewski1
@kbrewski1 Сағат бұрын
Notre Dame's preseason rank by the AP was #8. NO ONE HAD THEM WINNING THE NC. NO ONE HAD THEM IN THE TOP 4. Obviously no one expected a 2 point last minute L at home to NIU. But if they finish 11-1 with a ROAD W OVER USC in W12, ND will get in the CFP. Even if they finish 10-2, they have a shot. Their margin of error us thin, and they can't get an auto bid like some 2 loss teams will. So quit wetting the bed you clueless whining babies.

As a KU fan, I love where we are as a program now the fact that beating us is something for teams to hang their hats on. That being said it REALLY sucks seeing just how poorly JD6 and our OC have been thus far. We’re playing so well most everywhere else to the point where our defense actually looks somewhat decent, not to mention Devin Neal continuing to ball out. This should’ve been our year to prove the last 2 weren’t a fluke and start contending, we have a much easier schedule and and expanded playoff field. But now we’re staring down the barrel of a potentially program ruining season without a real home game on the schedule. What especially sucks is that we’re a couple of mental mistakes away from being 3-0 and probably top 20 or 15. If JD6 doesn’t throw those picks vs Illinois or even if we just recovered that fumble vs UNLV, the script could’ve been flipped.

"Notre Dame hater"? Josh, you're one of the most even-handed commentators out there on the topic of Notre Dame. Not a hater, not a starry-eyed believer. Just a disinterested observer who recognizes the positive impact that a resurgent Notre Dame could have on college football because of its national following and cultural prominence. I agree that they have been a massive disappointment this year. I don't think _anything_ will clear away the fallout of the Irish losing to a MAC team, no matter how well-prepared NIU was or how well their team played. ND should have wiped the floor with that team on talent alone with just average coaching. An utter failure in all aspects of the game.

Okay, for OKsT it’s a more complex issue than just saying Ollie needs to get more yards and they have an old offensive line. First, when Defenses load the tackle box with an extra man to prevent the run, what do you do to beat that? Well, you pass that ball. Which is what we have been doing and successfully. Secondly, when you are being somewhat forced into a passing game you need a good o-line to stop the QB from being sacked. With that being said, Bowman hasn’t been sacked a single time yet this year. They are proving their experience by making sure that Bowman has plenty of time to take advantage of what the defense is offering. I just don’t think it’s fair to expect OKsT to have the same rushing attack as last year when defenses are planning for Ollie and just selling out to stop the run.

I can't bring myself to say DJU was the wrong QB. I don't think I heard a single person say inside or outside the program, at least not loudly enough I heard it, that DJU was going to be a QB that could elevate FSU like Ward is doing at Miami. He was always supposed to be a piece that fit into a scheme. That scheme was supposed to include first and foremost good defense. I think people envisaged a sort of post Ben Rothlisberger Steelers team for FSU this year. QB play isn't going to win them games, but their defense sure will. Frankly I almost don't even care what the whole offense has done, the defense is so astoundingly disappointing that they're the reason I'm disappointed in FSU as a whole. If I had to look at the offense, I still wouldn't be looking at DJU. They currently have 71 carries for 156 yards, and a 2.2 yard per carry average. Even if you wanted to remove DJU's 23 attempts it's still 3.5 yards per carry with 170 total yards. I'm leaving DJU's carries and negative yards in because whatever else he was as a QB at Clemson and Oregon State, the man could run. He had 1,132 yards in his prior four seasons, averaged 3.5 yards per carry. It's not an astounding total (3.5 ypc), but it's markedly better than -14 yards on 23 attempts. This team is a mess, DJU appears (to me) to be the only one who even gives a damn. Blaming him for not being something literally nobody was saying he was capable of just lets off all the other players who are absolute dumpster fires right now.
