To paraphrase a thought that was conveyed at Eleven Warriors, it is crazy that the QBs you wouldn't at first glance expect to win national titles (Krenzel, Jones, and Howard) won them while some of the stud QB's OSU has had (Haskins, Fields, Miller, and Stroud) were unable to get there. Granted there is a ton that factors into that (available personnel, questionable calls, etc.), but it is still pretty remarkable.

Glad you beat me to the punch b/c we're going to see a lot of misleading stats like this until we have played enough 12+ team versions of the CFP to where the stats actually correlate and make sense. @ I have talked to hundreds of people and not 1 person has liked it. The CFP is nothing but rich people getting richer and abusing these young athletes. They’ve added a commercial timeouts for more revenue and made the games an hour to an hour and a half longer because of that. The entire season is the playoffs, but instead of that, they disregard it and add a new playoff system. Number one should play number two for the championship and other top-tier teams get a top-tier bowl… End of story, but now the rich have to get richer by any dozen more games to produce more revenue. I am a student of globally economics, macro, and micro economics and finance so I kind of know what I’m talking about. God bless and have a nice day.

Josh "I'll tell ya what I like about the expanded playoff and briefly talk about what I don't". - Proceeds to spend 80% of the time talking about what he doesn't like. Mostly consisting of things he has already said. I do want to address the low societal awareness of the Championship game and general lack of interest. I think it was partially matchup with many expecting a blowout. I also think it partially is because the schedule. Going into mid-January and playing on a Monday doesn't give enough focus to the sport. I like the expanded playoff but fix the schedule.

I’m only 22 so I don’t have the “nostalgia” with the old format but I completely agree. I would much rather have a champion who had to beat 5 of the top 10 to win a natty compared to an ACC school that went undefeated in a weaker conference and is now 1 game away. It’s a NATIONAL championship for a reason, you should have to beat 3/4 of the best teams in the nation not just conference. Once leadership is introduced to CFB and fixes schedule/portal I think we will all see how awesome this new format is

Despite the current 12 team playoff this year was better than the 4 to playoff. So many more regular season games had National interest (meaning) since they had playoff implications. The home games in the playoffs were fantastic! This year had so much chaos that would have had some serious arguing over who the 4th seed should be. Way less drama over the 12th seed despite media trying to fan the “flames”. OSU-MICH had a lot of implications for OSU. That dropped them from the B1G title game. That’s a huge consequence to not compete for that.

my suggestions to improve the playoff format 1) shrink it to 8 teams and eliminate the G5 autobid. no byes, just 3 rounds of games 2) Power 4 conference champions get an autobid, but not automatic top seeds. they have a spot, but they can be seeded anywhere 3) host the first 2 rounds on campus 4) play 3 NY6 bowls each year. natty is at the Rose Bowl every year, other 2 bowls rotate 5) (tangentially related) do not open the transfer portal until after all bowl games are complete and the natty game has been played

I spent all night of the CFP championship switching from one illegal stream to the next one YT because my KZbin TV subscription got turned off. The struggle is real. Also, don't judge! But yeah. I got to watch some of the game from a TV screen in what turned put to be the only local restaurant/bar that was open, because when South Mississippians hear the word snow on the local news they lose their minds and shut everything down. Also, i didn't want to cook cuz i just finished up a 12 hour shift after coming off of a week long vacation at home. We needed to eat and Thank God for Fluer De Lis bar in Pascagoula. It was open and so was their kitchen. Watched the second quarter and beginning of 3rd quarter there. The rest of the game illegally streamed on YT. Remember, we agreed to not judge.

I love and support the channel and I tend to agree with most of your opinions when it comes to college football however, I one hundred percent disagree with your opinion when it comes to a playoff. I just don’t feel the same way about it at all. I have lived through too many seasons, where I felt like we needed a playoff to settle it on the field between a few teams out there at the end of the regular season , and it never sat right with me and apparently others. There is a reason most every other sports format has a playoff. It’s because when it really matters, it needs to be settled on the field it’s just an extension of why we play the game as they say in my opinion back when we just had polls it was as if we didn’t even need to play the season. Let’s just go ahead and rank them now you know. . In my opinion, the playoff is just an extension of the old phrase “That’s why you play the games.” Bc if we don’t settle it on the field there is no real winner, only an opinion of who the winner should be. Like a poll. I never liked that. I love the playoff. It leaves fans with an honest feeling about the winner.

I do not know why they do not just play the college playoff games on free tv. I grew up without cable and was never able to watch ESPN games. I watched them on CBS or ABC or whatever local channel would play them. If these big money makers want to make more money, I do not understand why they do not just play them on a free channel and the paid people will watch anyway, but then more people would watch who never get to. Like ESPN could have played games on ABC and then everyone could watch through that and everyone gets paid and the game. Its a "win-win". From my understanding it is based on a rotating set of statistics that are used strategically to increase engagement of key fan bases. One way to increase engagement is by rating a losing team higher than the team that beat them. The arguments will flow after a ruse like that. It seems asinine to pick and choose when a team loses "for real" and when it's a "fluke that wouldn't happen 99 out of 100 simulations" but your model does it and you stand by it.

NIL has ruined the competitive landscape of college football. It is all about the highest bidder these days. Notre Dame, Texas, Ohio State, and Oregon (I’d bet Georgia is in this list as well can’t find a number on them) all spent 20+ million on their rosters and no one else is listed as such. What do all of these teams have in common? It is a money sport now, we let the cat out of the bag and I don’t if it ever can be brought back. My best guess would be a salary cap equal across all power 5 conferences. And if you don’t believe me look at Mississippi State the last few years. They are the lowest budgeted team in the SEC. First season of NIL 7 wins, Second season 9 wins, Third season 5, and this year 2. And to throw my biases in I’m a Tennessee fan, we have seen a rapid rise in the floor as you said yourself about a week ago. Heupel deserves some credit but it is mostly due to us being about to throw money at these kids. We signed Nico out of HS for 8 million only reason is because it was a bidding war. It has eroded team morale, the guys who are making 20k see the ones making a quarter million and they say F this. Jeremy Banks fought in the locker room with Joe Milton and Hendon Hooker about NIL money the week prior to us playing South Carolina. Banks was the defensive play caller in that team. Go back and watch that game and tell me that defense didn’t just lay down that game. I will give the sport a couple more years if doesn’t enforce some rule changes to make it balanced, I’m going to pick a local D3 team and that’ll be my college football team. Money. Ruins. All.

I like Ryan Day as a person a lot. Urban Meyer I do not like because of what happened at Florida and OSU and Jacksonville. He is a better guy than Urban.
