My second favorite SEC team. 🐊 I lived there for a while back in the early 70's.. got to meet Bear Bryant and shake his hand when Alabama ate team meals at my dad's restaurant, the year Pat Sullivan Auburn's quarterback won the Heisman trophy. I've always liked Auburn since living there, nice town.

Probably because it’s not suspicious when 5* players sign with two dominant programs who have 70+% of the fans in their respective states. It’s definitely suspicious when 5* players start signing with a program that has been mediocre for 10 years and is led by a coach with a documented history of blatant cheating and preaching of fake family values and religious piety while he was banging hookers. Everyone was suspicious when Ole Miss started signing 5*s, and guess what? They were right! Auburn is a little better program than Ole Miss, but never signed a lot of elite recruits except when Bama and UGA have been down.

But by not sitting they are good HS players not top college players when they face a team like bama and UGA with multiple starters NFL bound rookie HS layers no matter how good do not beat GREAT college players about to go pro. They need to develop, the best freshman still take a yr or 2 to become great college players even on loaded teams maybe 1 or 2 freshmen make real difference and that is on team that is loaded at every damn position. Auburn 2 to 3 yrs from being real good if they ever get there. lets see if freeze can recruit and develop players at auburn. one or 2 yrs at ole miss with a few great players and still no titles has proven nothing yet. Took saban a couple of yrs and kirby and both now multiple titles, freeze has zero, so lets not annoint him great until he wins something besides a couple of big games like a sec title and a spot in CFP

Jesus... freeze is about to do big things. He excells in the NIL model that once punished his recruiting tactics and abilities. He's now in his coaching prime, has a massive dedication to doing things right to prove his second chance is warranted, left the SEC with unfinished business when he was a NC contender and was humbled in a big way. He's now at a school that's hungry to reestablish its tradition, and they have superior resources with boosters that make your eyes water with money they withheld from the previous coach that didn't know what he was doing. This is a generational aligning of the stars at Auburn. I give it 2 seasons max before Auburn is one of the most feared stadiums in the country for opposing teams to visit

Auburn played for 2 national championships in the 2010's; and was 1 game from making the playoffs in 2017 before suffering the injury bug. Auburn got left out of the national championship in 2004 and went undefeated. Maybe you suffer from delusional but Auburn has a chance to win a national championship. These guys might very well be complete duds, but you're right about the impact this will have for the program going forward. There is momentum in recruiting. Prospects on the fence about Auburn are going to see Freeze pulling in commits from UGA and Bama, and they are going to give Auburn a serious look. That's what you want. I was opposed to the Freeze hire. I was opposed to the way Auburn treated Harsin. I was opposed to the way we fired Malzahn during the COVID year. I think it is really embarrassing that boosters fabricated a faux scandal around Harsin that he was cheating on his wife, and then turn around and hire a guy who was fired in part for ... you guessed it. All that aside, I hope Freeze is able to bring stability to the program. With the new rules in place, he can work whatever magic he was doing at Ole Miss and not get fired.

NIL is a bad term, these kids don’t have NIL value yet. Their names, images, and likenesses aren’t worth anything. At the moment it’s literally pay to sign, not pay to play, just sign. Things need to change so they can make $ for themselves for playing well and becoming popular. Cam Newton and Tim Tebow could have made millions off actual NIL money.

Because most of his recruits were 4 star. They don't get much better to the naked eye. if he got a lot of 3 star or less level players, yeah they would get noticably better.
