I used to play Omega Race constantly at the Starport Arcade in the San Diego area back in 1981. Always was fascinated by that spinning control knob... Definitely, an underrated game...

Yes...I wonder how many are still out there!

one of my favourite games back in the day! what i used to do is to leave just the death ship and destroy mines for points. you can last pretty long on one quarter doing that :-)

Love Omega Race. I play the cabaret and the cocktail every year at California Extreme. Wish I had one.

Fewer and fewer are out there these days...at least we have some that have survived so others can experience it with the original controls.

I found a working omega with 0 damage at the last arcade/pinball repair shop it the city and they sold it to me for 150$. The glass is scratched to shit and the graphics have flaked away but all the actual electronics are immaculate. I have been toying with building a repro cabaret for the last year or so
Love your vids Todd!!!! i was waiting for another video... been watching and subscribed for over a year....but i am usually silent...been watching since i caught your video about 8 track machine being repaired for a pinball machine. saw it as a random video. i love video games again thanks to your vids. each video is like a cup of coffee that starts my day like daddy pops starts yours. i also love using the work (CLEVER) now..lol .. you are truly the start of your show.. sincerely, Seth

I've had two full size uprights (one water damaged-parted out) and a second one w/body damage. I also have at least three sets of boards for Omega Race that AREN'T acid damaged; one of these days I'll find another cabinet to put one of them in & see if they still work...

You can probably sell those Omega Race boards!!!

Todd I have an issue I just put back together my Riverboat Gambler pinball, I had the Playfield out of the cabinet and when I put everything back in and hooked everything up and double checked and triple check I turn the machine on all I get is GI, no displays and for some reason I only get one light on the MPU. no diagnostic
@colinmoorhead32998 жыл бұрын
what could this be and could I have blown up any boards?
@Nighthawke708 жыл бұрын
One feature (or bug) in Omega Race, is the fire button still works in demo mode! Meaning you can sit there and keep mashing the fire button, zapping the enemy without feeding it one quarter.

Any board that is damaged beyond repair you can now put in a PC or Raspberry Pi and with a little re-wiring to the original arcade cabinet the game will play like new and the same as the original. It's just being emulated to a computer. I've dealt with a few like that and you would never know the difference even on location and the customers don't know the difference either
@tntamusements8 жыл бұрын
We have been doing this in a number of games that are getting 24 hour a day use at customers request already!

Didn't the engineers of these games know that batteries leak after years of use? or was it the bad technology of the time? there have been some real bad engineering designs for some of these board. On the capcom boards do you know why they would design a board that would self destruct once the battery dies?
@tntamusements8 жыл бұрын
Real stupidity to place the battery in a position like that. However, I think there were some bad runs of batteries too. I know the ni-cad battery that Game Plan picked out was leaking after a year or so...and it pretty much ruined so many boards that operators stopped buying their games because they couldn't get the main board repaired...and that was in the early 80's! I started using lithium batteries on almost everything--converting all the games I sold beginning in 1999. I feel I saved hundreds of games over the years now---as we have now sold well over 25,000 machines since 1984!

+TNT Amusements Inc If only they had put the batteries at the BOTTOM of the boards, then we might have more original boards around.
