Awesome video and glad to see folks talking about the major. Btw I've had the major done on my 348 speciale and even with the oil tensioner replaced last year it was right around $7k with one of the best indy exotic shops in the mid Atlantic. Just hate to see the lack of fully disclosed information ("misinformation") out there which may scare people away from the 348. You bare doing more work than "just a major". Love the fact this car looks all original with the trunk lid still being black. Will follow for sure.

We aren't providing misinformation. This isn't a basic timing belt service. $20-25k for what we are doing is totally reasonable

Less is more. The entirely analog 348 is the biggest bang for the buck. The 355 has brass valve issues. the 355s electronic adjustable suspension goes out. the 355 spider's roof is one piece and costs $60k to replace. its now or never for the 348 - the shrewdest sports car purchase in the entire Ferrari market.

$25K service? Seriously? Seems a bit overly sensationalist to drive views. I guess it worked for Matt Farah and his Carrera video... Why not here? Regardless, cool to see the DIY.
@normalguysupercar5 жыл бұрын
Here's the response I had on Facebook to the same debate... Well... Let's say you find a shop that's cheap, like $120/hour. And let's assume they don't mark up the parts. We're in over $5k in parts. It's easily an 80+ hour job. As I keep saying, we're not just doing the timing belts... So 80 * $120 = $9600... Plus parts is about $15k. Now that's probably best case scenario. If they run $200/hour which isn't uncommon, then we're already at well over $20k. Add in that most shops mark up parts and is easily $25k.
@TheMentalblockrock5 жыл бұрын
That would be at Ferrari dealership labour rates.
@mikespess8245 жыл бұрын
@@normalguysupercar If you're buying $15K worth of parts, it's going WAY beyond a major service. My last engine-out major (last 4 years) was $12K and that included a new exhaust, clutch slave, new fuel lines, and all of the typical major service components that you would expect. The work was completed by one of the best independent Ferrari shops on the East coast. Again, the DIY is still cool. It's a great way to really understand how the cars are put together and how they work.
