My Ferrari 348 is given its annual service. I run though and perform all of the maintenance items involved in order to complete an Annual on the 348.

Hi Dave thanks for the kind words. I was in I.T for 20+ years and have had not formal training on these, its all self taught over the years and gradually I do more and more in depth stuff. Less is more. The entirely analog 348 is the biggest bang for the buck. The 355 has brass valve issues. the 355s electronic adjustable suspension goes out. the 355 spider's roof is one piece and costs $60k to replace. its now or never for the 348 - the shrewdest sports car purchase in the entire Ferrari market.

Take the wheels off, take the tubs out, and the fuel filters are right there. No need to lean on expensive paint. I have a '94 2.7 motronic spider and it makes 312 HP. No dogs at my house. 348 convertibles are the only way to go. I love my car. my 2 cents

Cheers Ross, appreciate the feedback. Personally I really like the 348 for its drive feel and feedback. Yes given its has a heavy clutch and no PAS so its hard work Parking or moving but once its going it feels like a Go Kart. Its got all the feel most of the modern Ferraris now lack

I should add that I have a full height lift in my garage. Engine out service is a breeze. Every thing is easier.

Great Video! Have a few beginner questions: 1.) There certainly are a few things which can't be done without lifting the engine right? This is my main concern reg. the 348 holding me back from buying one. 2.) Does the value of the car fall whenever you do your own maintenance?

Yes a lot of things that should be simple like changing the timing belt require engine removal on this car. DIY maintenance can lower value because you don’t have receipts for the maintenance, but filming yourself in a professional manner while doing maintenance may help a bit as you would be able to provide video proof

What kind of cleaning liquid do you use ? Have you had ever problems with an engaged ABS warning light, any idea how to go about it ?

i just use a product to get rid of all the caked on grim that's called 'gunk' that with a paintbrush and lots of elbow grease. sometimes it takes a few goes to get it all off, but well worth it. Ive had an ABS light before a couple of times on my Ferrari's but it always goes away when i drive it down the road.

Scott I’ve watched your video on how to replace the timing belts on a 355 by dropping the fuel tank to gain access space from below. Given the similarity in layout, would this technique work with the 348? Jon

Jon I believe it would work but a little more tricky as it’s a single belt on 348 … I’ve never tried it though buddy

@@Ratarossa Hi, I'm another huge fan of your work; the belt service has always pushed me away from even thinking about buying a 348/355 but having just watched your 355 DIY video, I'm actually thinking about saving up to buy one! I do actually prefer the 348 over the 355, so if you ever find a way of making the belt service as easy as the video I just watched, I'll be stoked. Looking forward to seeing an upload.

Great question. Here in the UK an Independent or specialist would charge between £450 and £900 + VAT for the Annual 348 Service. The cost of the items and fluid I used was £135.06 +VAT

The video is excellent, however I have my doubts a car which runs less than 2000 km/year will get the engine oil so black and the air filter so dirty in a single year. And let's be honest the oil washer needs to be replaced every year? what happents with the metal it melts by itself in 365 days? These cars usually get 10.000 km in 5 years only. Put 100% synthetic oil and you can do this "annual" service from 5 to 5 years.
