Love the 348. You cant find them cheap anymore. Spyders being more common and GTB/S commanding more money. They are up there with 360 pricing.

One more point I’d add after driving one recently.. steering! No power assist - 355 steering always seems to be criticized

Good description! I own a Spider since 2010. I had to choose between a 328 and a 348. The only affordable at those times. In Germany the spider prices of 348, 355 and 360 are very close nowadays. My befriended 355 owners really have these F1-transmission and electric roof problems you are talking of. Certainly I am missing power, but would miss them also with 80 HP more of the newer models. Maintenance of 348 and 355 keeps extremely high unfortunately. I know from 360 on they are much cheaper. This fact I really underestimated when purchasing a 348.

I didn’t know you had a KZbin channel till your recent IG post. Subscribed. And yes. Side strakes. Cost. And the fact everything is manual vs electronic or automated. The main thing lacking is the power but any car this old isn’t winning against anything modern anyhow. You’re making me regret not buying a 348 now hah. I test drove everything from 308 to 360. The 348 was still surprisingly capable and easy to use on the freeway etc. Very mechanical feeling in a good way. I suspect I’d miss the sound and power of my Gallardo tho. You have the best of both with Diablo as well.

I've had my 348 for about four years now, and I thought I knew the car quite well. But past weekend I took it on track at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) and it was quite an eye-opener. I realized that this is not a road car at all, it's built for the track and does road duty on the side. Everything comes alive on track: the steering, the transmission, the engine... It has the spirit of Enzo Ferrari in it, who basically started selling track cars for the road in order to afford his racing team.

Well yes, it is a TR-355 sandwich. And yes, it always comes down to maintenance.

I should've saved a little extra money and lived frugally for another year or two and then got one of these but the Boxster is still a blast to drive lol

Are 348's actually reliable in your opinion?

For the period of car yes (none of these cars are going to be Toyotas though). It’s also fairly easy to access everything minus the timing belt. The main point of this video though was to compare to 355’s reliability, etc.

@@Why2k yes, going away from the shim and bucket setup was a major growing pain for the 355. This video was spot on.

With regards to maintenance, also the engine need to get out for a big service? (Belts) Enjoy😅

I like the F355 better because it’s more like an F1 car. 5 valves and ITBs make it scream. The end. 355 wins. At least u picked the correct colours PS a valve has been burnt before but that’s it with any valve issues. Both cars r awful with maintenance because it’s engine out service. Ferrari didn’t care at all about ease of service at this time.
