I would try some Sierra projectiles 100 grain and the 120 stuff hopefully it’s just a little picky. My axis in 243 seems to do pretty well. If it doesn’t tighten up you might call savage 🤷🏽‍♂️

You definitely have to let the barrel cool down for the best accuracy specifically with a quarter bore

Buddy i don't know that Savage won't tighten up i have never shot 120gr 115 an 110 gr my rifle does really well. Every Savage axis that i have shot and reloaded for did extremely well

Try your grouping at 50 yards and 300 yards.

Why? That makes zero sense? Plus I have never shot an animal where I live closer than 150 yards. 100 yards is a good bench mark if it don’t shoot well at 100 it’s not going to shoot well at 300. Let’s hear your reasoning behind this?

Okay, so I retested the 117 gr BTSP load I had with IMR4831 and a CCI 250 LRMP. Horrendous is all I can say!!!!! About a 2", 5 shot group, ES: 57/SD: 20. Going to try some VV N165 next with the same bullets and CCI 200 LRP. Also did some reading that if the barrel isn't shooting boat tails very, that flat bases should be better. Got a box of Hornady 117 gr SST to try out and then may try some 120 gr Speer or Nosler Partitions (if I can find them). Good luck and stay safe!!! 😉😉😉

@@nicholasbarcomb2324 yeah got to always re test and make sure your date is good!! That’s why I shoot 20 shots of factory. If you got any imr4350 maybe give that a try.
