To be honest, these make really nice first-time Gundam figures for younger kids. Durable, nice detail and stylization, decent size and just enough articulation to pull off basic action poses for easy play. The only way a franchise continues, is garnering a new generation of fans and I think this is a fantastic way to do it.

We got these in at the model shop I work at and there was some pretty bad discoloration in grandpa Gundam's legs and there wasn't a straight beam saber blade in the lot. For the price I'd rather get two HGUC revive Gundams.

I'm guessing they didn't add in Wing's transformation because they used the same basic joints for all three of them, but it's not like Wing's transformation is particularly complicated or difficult to translate to a toy

These were selling for as low as 11.5 CAD$ in china, and were given out as prizes for gundam mobile games. I won the unicorn for free, but definitely would not recommend to anyone. (The building experience is much more valuable to me).

because in china the gundam fan base is insanely big, and they have extremely high expectations and you can almost always expect people to talk crap about kits like these that could barely attract any attention even in a big gundam market. the truth is, the sellers in china were so desperate to get rid of these kits that they were just literally selling for 68 yuan including shipping XD The gundam battle game (not the gundam breaker one thats just released) was connected to the Shanghai gundam base and they were just using in-game giveaways to get rid of these "kits-that-nobody-buys" :P

If youre concerns are budget and want a passable figure then go ahead with this line. If you have no concerns for budget and want more posability and accesories go get the robot damashi line. Otherwise just grt into gunpla instead. Build your figure itself and can look some tutorials and redditerd posts on how to modify your kits

This line is turning out really nice so far. The one I'm looking forward to the most is the RX-79 Gundam Ez8, which is one of my favorite Gundams of all time. Also, there are a couple of neat things about the accessories for the Unicorn and RX-78. The RX-78's beam rifle sight is on a hinge so it can move. You can also plug the beam saber blades into the ends of the beam rifle and beam magnum.

I'd like to comment when you look at it from a new line point of view they are never going to be good at the start. The black series for star wars didn't start off good and had issues. They improved over time and I'm giving them that time to improve where the figures flopped. They can then make a 2.0 verion of the older figures like the ver ANIME line once they find their stride

I impulse bought the Barbatos from this line because it was on sale at a pharmacy I frequent. It's not the worst thing I've ever handled but it's definitely no MG! Kinda fun to have around though and it definitely doesn't look or feel bad. fuck having the rear skirt armor be a rubber piece instead of a hard paralyzed plastic piece though

I think these are also a really good starting point for customizing your Gundam, it's pre built so don't have to put time in building it and then accidentally ruin it. But they're also still flat in colour so you can have fun with it. Might buy one for that reason!

I got the unicorn and the wing gundam because I thought they would be dope until I can think about if I want to try some models I'm afraid they will feel cheap like those model cars every dad has. But I personally feel the universe line is good for the 25$ tho some people like waiting for there new model to arrive and to build them. I've collected lots of them I could find all Gundam Universe line so far: Strike Freedom Gundam, 00 Qant[A], Strike Gundam, Char's Sazabi, Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex, Unicorn Gundam (Awakened) and Gundam Aerial. It's crude but it's still fun to play around or pose with it..

when i was a kid, there was a gundam figurine line that was impressive, one i had was olive green with a simple autocannon, a shield (dont remember if it can stand up) and 2 spare clibs on the skirt, but i was young but i do remember the hands i didnt have to change out it was just one set that was like a multi-purpose but what i do remember of it is that the knee plates had the 3 studs

For me, they look great, their paint job is decent, and their posability is great. The main disadvantages are the lack of gimmicks (Wing and Unicorn's transformations) and accessories (RX-78 and Unicorn). I honestly think it's worth it for $25 if you don't mind those disadvantages. I hope they do that for all 5 wing suits (and keep the quality consistent).

I have the Gundam Universe RX-78-2 Gundam, two in fact. One for posing and photo ops and one for display in the package. To tell you the truth, I actually enjoyed them and had no complaints. But I have to agree with you on the GU-03 RX-0 Unicorn Gundam being the weakest of the three. I had some doubts when I saw the Unicorn at a local Gamestop store in the St. John's Town Center in Jacksonville, Florida. Now my doubts have been confirmed. Thanks for the review. Now I am planning to get the Wing Gundam next.

I remember sometime in the 90's I had a 7' or 8' Nu gundam action figure from a BigLots for $15. Durable heavy rubberish plastic, funnel wing didn't separate, great articulation was great for poses. And 7 year old me still managed to rip it apart. Smh parents trashed it after.

One thing to definitely keep in mind is that this line is targeted to the West so it's more accurate to compare it to toys that you see at your local store like Walmart and what not which in that case the articulation is average but passable But of course if you compare it to in the other Gundam related line then yeah it's definitely going to fall short

One way to have a somewhat black light effect is to play a violet screen on KZbin mobile with max brightness. It gives a light "blacklight" effect

this is meant for the same people that buys $20 hasbro figures. but i got the rx78 and rx0 for $25 for both. panel lined it and gave it to a friend as gift. it does what they set out to do. cheap with enough paint and detail to look cool and pegs on retail shelf of a major chain store.

Back in my grade school days I had the time to build the kits. Now as an adult I don’t have the same time anymore. Yes the kits are superior but at least with this line up I can continue my collection instead of having a gunpla kit collecting dust in my room from lack of time. And I can always outline the details with a gundam pen or marker.

Everything on it is plastic base while the yellow parts are painted so go try it if you do have it
