Fun fact: in the novelization of Resident Evil Code Veronica, even Claire mentions that Steve reminds her of "that actor from the Titanic movie" when she first sees him. I've always liked Steve and even now I still want him to come back. He could be similar to Alexia, where she was put on ice for some years. As for his attitude I always figured he acted the way he did to put up a strong front because of his and Claires distrust. As the longer they were together, the more Steve seemed to calm down. So even if they stress that he's dead as long as it's not straight out confirmed, I'm gonna hold out hope. Plus, this lets me make fanfiction of him easier ;p

This is probably just a coincidence, but in regards to Steve's collar having the number 808 on it, there was a 3 part anime series called Cyber City Oedo 808. The 3 maim characters in it were criminals who were working for the police to reduce their prison sentences and wore explosive collars that would be detonated if they fell out of line. Have to wonder if Capcom would revive him given all the fan speculation that interpreted Wesker's taunt as being truthful. Personally, I could see something happening if it tied into Wesker's own possible revival, which has been speculated about since Umbrella Corps, but all the same, I'd rather they didn't play so loosely with life and death in the series, since it is already pushed to the limit with how many mutated characters are able to shrug off death until finally succumbing to it.
