Could you guys do any 25 lists about artificial intelligence
@y_fam_goeglyd Жыл бұрын
Well, Mike, you set yourself up! Absolutely do a show in the Transatlantic voice! Maybe a list of bizarre things people would do up to the 50s? Like the beauty queen frog racing? (That's beauty queens having their own frogs which they raced as part of the competition. I saw something about it on the David Attenborough documentary on frogs, which is as fascinating as anything he's ever done.)

I worked for a large electronics retailer in the mid 80's. Even at that time, Sony was a huge name, they had just started producing CD players, etc. I was told by a Sony representative from Japan that Sony was wholly owned by the largest Saki company in the country. Sony, to them, was still a speculative venture. They had YET TO SEE RETURN ON THEIR INVESTMENT. This is the difference between money movers in this country from there. We expect an immediate return. They are willing to wait 25,50,75 years to see that return.

Cardinal Health - 1971. Started as food distribution. Wells Fargo - 1852. Started as a delivery company, stage coaches. Texas Instruments - 1930. Started in the oilfield services. Marriott International - 1927. Started out making root beer. Monsanto - 1901. Started making artificial sweetener.

OPI is used as an example of why having metrics and reviewing them is important - they notified that a compound used in fillings was flying off the shelves and was being purchased by manicurists. The co was concerned when they found out how it was being used for fake nails - as it was created to be in your mouth and used for chewing, it created a permanent bond. They thought nails might be pulled off if the fake nail got trapped by something as they wouldn’t break like a natural nail would. They decided they would produce a product especially for manicurists which would create a temporary bond and would fail under certain conditions to dissuade them from using the dental compound

Ahhh Tiffany!! They also have a wonderful perfume out which, if you have champagne taste on a soda pop pocket, you’ll easily figure out that it’s not for you. Unless you go online and buy samples of the product. I don’t wear the same fragrance all the time so I don’t want to waste money on a huge bottle of perfume. A sample is a fraction of the cost of a regular sized bottle, you have the pleasure of wearing the perfume and it isn’t hanging around for eons! Win-win!!

PlayDoh: the pseudo clay nature likely had adults playing around with it while using it on the walls , and IIRC you can make a vague approximation of it with normal (edible) Kitchen ingredients so giving it to kids as a Busy toy seems relatively safe... LV moving from Boxes to Luggage, and them presumably Purses seems like a logical progression Nintendo : Playing cards is just another form of gaming.. so while it was still at the 'Compete with atari/Coleco" stage someone likely asked "who knows Games "and took the idea to them... or some one at CardNintendo asked "what is the next generation of Games?" and the answer was computers
