When the ST released in 1985, the poor 8 bit Atari's were severely neglected. It's nice to see some recent love return to Jay Miners true predecessor of Amiga hardware. Star Raiders was and is truly astounding for such an early title.

Ah yes, you say "First Person Shooter" and I still say doom clone. Strange to hear a non-uk accent say Zarjazz! (if you are from the UK and read 2000ad at the time, you know).

Yes. Well, no matter what I say there will always be someone who corrects me so I just blanket said both =) Doom clone is fine by me, too. I used to read ST Action magazine all the time and especially the Minter Yak's Yak in the back pages. I don't actually know if it's pronounced 'Zarjaz' or some other way, but I always loved Minter.

@@IntoTheVerticalBlank Jeff Minter 'nicked' the word from 2000ad, a UK weekly comic anthology. While for many its lead character was Judge Dredd, I was more a Ro-Busters/A.B.C. Warriors and Strontium Dog kid. Check out the "Search/Destroy: A Strontium Dog/2000 AD and Starlord Fan Film" for a faithful film

It's an expression first used in the 2000AD comic from the late 70's in the UK? It was an expression for brilliance or excellence. Minter pinched it and used it for his explosions and particle graphics
