These two don't have HDMI out. What cable would you need to connect them to a Lumix G85 that only has HDMI out?
@NunoGomes_
@NunoGomes_ 7 жыл бұрын
they are monitors they dont have OUT only IN so they can show the image... The Option 2 has HDMI in and VGA in too. The First one only has AV in as far as I got in my tiny research, for that you'll need a HDMI female to AV male adapter or a HDMI male to AV male cable ( adise to go with cable if you can get it and get the best one you can find and afford because much of the image degrade is because of poor quality cables ).

Partially. HDMI feed is cut off as soon as you start recording. So you won't be able to constantly use it for focusing and framing.

This HDMI feed cut off happens specifically to the Panasonic G7 or to other cameras as well? What about Canons? Thanks.

I use a 24" Dell IPS monitor for framing and focus with my a6000. Since it's so big I add the metering and other metrics to the display so I can see record time, exposure, etc. For audio, I just record separately through an AT shotgun mic and use the built-in camera mic for sync. I'm a fan of external monitors in general, and I've thought about getting a 7" for more mobile work anyway.

I like affordable tests but with comparisons, I think it's important that you have parameters to compare with. I really liked your LED comparison exactly because of that, often we see LED tests and we watch the whole thing and still don't know how good it's for what we want. But more useful than just cheap stuff would be actual good stuff on a budget. Maybe some Ikan and Aputure monitors, comparing feats, what's the cheapest that you can still get false color, vectorscope, waveform, etc. maybe you can find some unknown gem, who knows?

Aputure, Liliput, and FeelWorld all have usable budget field monitors with features like false color, focus peaking and zebra stripes. You should be able to find a 720P IPS 7" monitor in the neighborhood of $100-$170. Last year I picked up a new Lilliput 664/O/P for $110 on ebay. I think it's worth it to pay an extra $50 or so for a proper video field monitor that has video features.

Great to see this affordable option. I looked for it by your links below but one didn’t work and the other was $56 now. I would like to find one at a higher price point that will last more than 2 or 3 years. Also something that doesn’t mind the elements and can be seen in harsh sunlight. Also, something with image stabilization would make a good topic. Then, how about showing in about 5 or six videos how to create a movie from start to finish. From idea to final editing and distribution or just KZbin posting. Thanks for the video.

Is it "blue" perhaps because the protective sticker is still on the screen?
@DylanTee
@DylanTee 7 жыл бұрын
So after seeing this video, I bought 3. Caleb is right, these are extremely sharp, perfect for grabbing focus. Now let's address the blue tint. They're blue - period. I would compare it to having a 3300k white balance while shooting under daylight. That being said, I bought 3 of these for less than the price of one "cheap" name brand. For my needs, I check that the colors are correct in camera, and then just use the monitor for focus pulling and having a bigger preview. For $50, you cannot get a better preassembled monitor. And if you only have a $50 budget for a monitor, you're probably buying this for your own personal use, and not for a client to view, so just look past the blue color and buy it. Another few quirks of this monitor - It's glossy black finish is a fingerprint magnet - The power/volume/menu/mode buttons are touch sensitive and they are EXTREMELY sensitive, they also make loud beeps any time they are touched. -You cannot access menu settings unless a source is connected. Overall, I knew exactly what I was buying and I am very happy that I purchased.

Caleb is spot on, it is what it is. BUT, it does have it's niche - I have a Overhead Camera Platform rig for filming tabletop tutorials and I have a two camera setup for this, I don't need a full-blown field monitor for my secondary camera - just a 'peeking' display to keep an eye on composition. Thanks, Caleb, for the tip about the battery plate though - I didn't know you could do that! :)
